Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis Confirmed for “Substantial Roles” in THE EXPENDABLES 2

While we reported back in July that a number of action movie big-shots were rumored to be joining Sylvester Stallone and Co. in the sequel to 2010’s The Expendables, it was unknown which actors would actually sign on to the movie. Well, now comes confirmation that the two biggest names on the list, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis, are set to reprise their roles from the first flick. Deadline reports that the actors, who had cameos in the original, will appear in “substantial” roles for The Expendables 2.

No other details are given as to the nature of Schwarzenegger and Willis’ involvement, but it sounds like they’ll be getting considerably more screen time. Simon West is directing the follow-up, which may or may not be shooting in China. Stallone is joined by returning cast members Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, and Terry Crews. Chuck Norris, John Travolta, Donnie Yen, and Jean-Claude Van Damme are other rumored additions. The Expendables 2 opens August 17, 2012.

    The first one was so terrible that only Donnie Yen being in it can get me excited.

      Not really sure what you were expecting. I mean, it had action, crappy one liners, over the top characters…it kinda hit the nail on the head for 80′s 90′s action movies. “It could have been soooo much better!” Some say…I disagree. For the huge undertaking that it was for a movie with so many heavy hitters, to mix in and out and have it be some what believable, was impressive. Everyone needs screen time, but man, with so many!? How do you do it with out making it a 4 hour movie!? Everyone in these movies could terrorize anyone, but all together, they are unstoppable…just hard to have them all be on the screen killing it.Thats just my opinion…I could be wrong…

        I expected a great action movie, but it was mostly boring and derivative. I mean the raid on that castle just had someone off screen jump down to kill a guard and plant a bomb. They did this like 20x. And everything was just blowing up at the end with bad CGI blood and CGI collapsing buildings. Its like Transformers 2 but on a smaller scale and with humans instead.

        The main appeal of the movie is these great action stars coming together. But its like any generic action star can jump from off screen to kill a guard or run through a field of explosions.

        Also the humor is terrible not cheesy/lame. They whole “she’s not your type” or “bullets are faster than knives” shtick are groan worthy because Stallone and Statham can’t deliver the lines.

    Going to be a great flick! It can only get better! With substantial roles for all three, its sure to be a good time. I mean, you have Chuck Norris signed on! Even if it is just a cameo, its going to be awesome. Van Damme set up to knock’em down, this next adventure is sure to be a riot.

    It would be awesome that Arine has a larger role like maybe him and his own team of mercenaries join The Expendables to take down Van Damme and his army.

    Also Bruce Willis gets a larger role, having Willis joining Van Damme and becomes the second main villain.

    It is great news that Arine and Willis returning for The Expendables 2.

    I hope in the sequel, there will be more amazing fight scenes.

    If Chuck Norris and Jean Claude Van Damme are now confirmed, it would be good if they include Jackie Chan, Steven Seagal, Michael Jai White, Kurt Angle and Bill Goldberg.

    It is a shame that Arnold Schwarzenegger’s marriage collapsed right when he is finally making his comeback to movies. Marriage, in my experience, takes work. A lot of work.

    I think my husband taught me a lot about inner beauty and confidence in myself. I’m slim but voluptuous. I’ve got curves and a large bust but it seemed that men were more interested in my chest than my personality. My exes seemed obsessed with my cleavage. They were always going on about my breasts, and in bed they practically worshipped them, while I wished they concentrated their attention elsewhere.

    My husband’s in love with the person inside of me, and the outside of me is just a bonus. I feel better—so much better now than I ever did in my twenties. I know who I am. And as a result, I feel much sexier.

    Didn’t Dolph Lundgren’s character die in the first one by getting dropped on a pole or something?

    ^No, he made it to the end. From what i remenber his character flipped and was going to kill one of them and he got taken down and botted from the team. But i think in the end he stayed. Don’t remenber that well..

    Someone above was talking about screen time, i couldn’t help but agree. Everybody is going to want some screen time. I just hope it turns out better than the first. The story seemed very generic and cliched…
