Thanks to social networking, we now have the first image of Arnold Schwarzenegger in director David Ayer’s new film, Ten.  Schwarzenegger tweeted the image earlier today, one that shows off a new look for the former Governor as he’s sporting a new haircut and a variety of new tattoos.  He’s also armed to the teeth and ready for battle in a police-issue bullet-proof vest, complete with knives, ammo and at least three guns.  Back when it was titled BreacherAyer said he wanted to “reinvent Arnold” during an interview with Steve.  You’ll have to decide for yourself whether or not he succeeded.  Hit the jump to check out the first image and for more on Schwarzenegger’s character.

Here’s the first look at Schwarzenegger in Ten:

Schwarzenegger himself tweeted the first image (via Empire), saying:

Arnold ‏@Schwarzenegger
I’m having a great time working with @DavidAyerMovies on my new movie, Ten. Check out my look: http://twitpic.com/b7c9jc

As noted on his vest, Schwarzenegger will play John “Breacher” Wharton, a hardened commander of an elite squad of DEA operatives who are about to raid a cartel’s safe house.  However, the operation is a cover-up for their plan to steal millions of dollars in illegal assets which they will sell.  Though they think they’ve gotten away with it, internal pressure starts to build and someone begins picking the team members off one by one.  Ten also stars Sam Worthington, Joe Manganiello, Harold Perrineau, Josh Holloway, Terrence Howard, Olivia Williams, Mireille Enos, Dawn Olivieri and Malin Akerman.

Ten, which started filming recently and is continuing with production in Georgia, was loosely based on the Agatha Christie story, “Ten Little Indians,” and was scripted by Skip Woods (The A-Team).  Look for Ten to debut some time next year.

Great look! He needs to keep this haircut! Also, very impressed with the gear he is wearing. Unlike most recent movies such as Fast and Furious, Transformers and The Expendables he is actually using his Armor Plate Carrier Correctly. He’s got gear attached to the MOLLE system and actually appears to have his armor inserts in it. Doesn’t look like he has the plates in there, but I’ll take what I can get. Also his M4 has a realistic set up, his shotgun is slung in the correct position, he is actually carrying mag pouches etc.

Did you miss the seam down the middle of his pistol where the two plastic halves are glued together?

      heh.

Arnold is still a badass. I love how he is making a big comeback. He already has two movies on the way with the Last Stand and The Tomb. Now Ten? Awesome. Keep them coming ‘ol buddy.

Am I the only pesron who thinks that Arnold has just aged badly compared to some other older actors around his age? Love his 80′s and 90′s stuff obviously, but now when I see him I just think…this dude has got tens of millions of dollars, he used to be Mr Universe, and he has aged like a pack a day smoker who ate like crap his entire life? I can’t get used to seeing geriatric looking Arnold, with his small forearms and normal biceps. He looked old as Governor, maybe the politics took alot out of him, I really didn’t think he’d get back into acting.

Look at Stallone. The dude has obviously had too much work on his face, but he is still pretty jacked for a 60 something old guy. I would have thought that before Arnold started acting again, he’d had hit the synthetic testosterone with a vengance, gotten his body at least somewhat back into ridiculous shape, gotten that turkey neck tucked, and tried to be kind of like the Arnold we used to know. It seems he is only interested in being the old tough guy now, and he isn’t freaking ancient. He could look alot better than he does with his money.

Here’s to hoping he doesn’t have to wear a shirt throughout the whole King Conan movie because of his man boobs and flabby arms. I have a feeling that Arnold from 1985 would take one look at this guy and laugh, then beat the crap out of him. C’mon, man, put in some effort. I have no interest in seeing old skinny Arnold acting like a badazz. JMO.

Is that a tattoo near his neck, a clue of his character?! how creative! when in doubt, add a physical mark of character that suggests the writing will be an utter mess. Wow, what a creative future we have in storytelling.
