In addition to picking up Peter Stormare, Devon Aoki and Brandon Routh for its third season, The CW’s Arrow held a panel today at the San Diego Comic-Con where unveiled a trailer for the aforementioned (and apparently action packed) Season 3.  To be honest, I’ve never seen an episode but what I’m seeing here looks like it hits its intended target.

Arrow stars Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, David Ramsey, Willa Wolland and Caity Lotz.  It returns on Wednesday, October 8th at 8pm ET/PT.  Hit the jump for the Arrow Season 3 trailer.  For more on the show and its spinoff, The Flash, check out our interview with writer/producer Andrew Kreisberg.  We’ll also have more on the panel shortly.

Here’s the official synopsis for Arrow:

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. He returned home to Starling City, welcomed by his devoted mother Moira (Susanna Thompson), beloved sister Thea (Willa Holland) and former flame Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy). With the aid of his trusted chauffeur/bodyguard John Diggle (David Ramsey), the computer-hacking skills of Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) and the occasional, reluctant assistance of former police detective, now beat cop, Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne), Oliver has been waging a one-man war on crime.

  • Early Edition

Im only 6 episodes into season 2, will watching this spoil things for me?

    • Adrian

Yup. The first minute is kind of a recap of the second season.

Thank you. Just finished ep 9. That flash introduction was awesome! This season is sweet!

    • LEM

      Definitely.

Is it just me or did the brief moment that Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) was doing a presentation towards the end of the trailer show “Starling City” being renamed “Star City” like in the comic books?

    • Guy Smiley

Maybe they’ll finally start calling Ollie “Green Arrow” too. At least as a way for the cps to distinguish between the “Green” Arrow and the “Red” Arrow (Arsenal).

The flashback sequences get really old.

    • Guy Smiley

The Hong Kong stuff should be interesting. I also suspect that Ollie’s going to run afoul of ARGUS in the flashbacks, and he’s going to end up (again, in the flashbacks) in the same supermax prison he put Slade in at the end of season two.

Just watched the trailer, and it sure seems like my theory could be right.

I wonder what’s the beef between Ollie and Dig?

    • Kyle Chandler

If I had to guess? He’s becoming a father and Ollie doesn’t want his kid to be an orphan, so he’s grounding him, but diggle still wants to be in the fight.

  • Steven

    No Malcom Meryln footage, Boooooo.

Looks great, I especially like seeing Peter Stormare in it.

    • Guy Smiley

Worry not. Barrowman’s been added as a series regular for season 3. We’ll be seeing plenty of Malcolm, and Dark Thea (?) too.

I’m hoping this all leads up to Ra’s Al-Ghul appearing by the end of the season.

You’ve never watched the show, Evan? Go to Netflix and start. The first season is a bit of a slog at first (though it’s never terrible). The show really kicks into gear in the second half of the season though, and it season two is even more awesome.

The show occasionally lapses into CW teen-soap opera tripe. The Ollie-Laurel-Tommy love triangle stuff in season one got real tiresome, for instance, and Laurel’s gets more annoying in season two. But don’t let that stop you from watching what’s been the live action comic book show ever — Hands down. The back half of season two is just pure comic book awesomeness.

No offense Evan, but isn’t there someone else at Collider who’s actually seen Arrow who can write about it? That’s a terrible way to start an article man. At least Wikipedia it an act like you know what’s up. It comes off like you’re going out of your way to make it clear you have no interest in your subject whatsoever. Pretty amateur.

Oliver: “Superman is wants to buy my fucking company??”
