Warning: This article contains major spoilers for this week’s episode of Arrow.

In this week’s Arrow, we learned that Adrian Chase is Prometheus, which begs the question: Who the heck is Vigilante?

In the comics, Adrian Chase is one of Vigilante’s alter egos, which is why so many fans believed the Star City District Attorney to be the man behind that particular mask. Now that he’s out of the running, we are wracking our brains to figure out who Vigilante might be.

Here are our likeliest suspects:

Captain Pike

The comic book incarnations of Vigilante often have alter egos who work for the city, which leads to a few possible conclusions when it comes to Vigilante’s possible identity on Arrow. Could the man under the mask be Captain Pike, the chief of the Star City police department? Given how Pike responded to Oliver’s confession that he covered up the cause of Billy Malone’s death, the man seems both desperate to protect the city and willing to bend the rules when the situation calls for it. He also knows how to use a gun and has been given an increasingly larger role as the season goes on.

Quentin Lance

Earlier in the season, Arrow tried to convince us (and Lance himself) that he was the Throwing Star Killer — a.k.a. Prometheus. Could Lance’s unexplained time loss and unexplained injuries actually have come from a different night job? If Vigilante is Detective Lance, then Quentin has become seriously unhinged, but Lance has a history of going off the rails — especially after losing his daughters. We know he cares about the city. Could that have manifested in some kind of split vigilante personality? Crazier things have happened on this show.

Curtis’ Husband Paul

I’m pretty pissed at Paul right now, so, while it’s highly unlikely that Curtis’ husband is Vigilante, I’m going to suggest it because I remember Curtis’ heartbroken face after being served divorce papers. Did Paul break up with Curtis not because he was worried about his wellbeing, but because he is anti-Team Arrow — so anti-Team Arrow that he is Vigilante? Yeah, probably not, but you have to admit: it would be an unexpected twist.

Billy Malone

Let’s face it: No one ever dies on this show. Why would Billy Malone be an exception? Did Billy Malone fake his own death in order to continue his work as Vigilante full-time? Prometheus’ part in Billy’s death makes this one more unlikely, but I suppose the two could have been temporarily working together to take down Green Arrow, only to come to blows later when Vigilante actively tried to kill Oliver.

Tommy Merlyn

Nope, I’m not ready to give up on the dream theory that Malcolm Merlyn managed to dip Tommy in the Lazarus Pit before it was evaporated. If that is the case, then perhaps Tommy is the one traipsing around Star City, trying to restore a twisted sense of justice to his hometown. Season 5 is all about Oliver’s past. Who better exemplifies Oliver’s past mistakes than Tommy? For far too long, Oliver blamed himself personally for the death of his best friend. Does Tommy blame him, too?

Someone Else

Are we forgetting a likely suspect? Arrow is rarely a subtle show, but maybe they’ve slipped a possible suspect past us.
