New Trailer for ARTHUR

     March 3, 2011

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Arthur.  It’s not too different from the first trailer with the exception of a few new jokes and another reminder that Greta Gerwig is in the movie.  While I’m glad they’re not giving away all of the humor, the fact that so many of the jokes were in the first trailer has me worried that we’ve already seen the best the movie has to offer.  Hopefully that’s not the case.

Hit the jump to check out the new trailer.  Arthur stars Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, and Jennifer Garner.  It opens April 8th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Arthur:

Irresponsible charmer Arthur Bach (Russell Brand) has always relied on two things to get by: his limitless fortune and the good sense of lifelong nanny Hobson (Helen Mirren) to keep him out of trouble. Now he faces his biggest challenge–choosing between an arranged marriage that will ensure his lavish lifestyle or an uncertain future with the one thing money can’t buy, Naomi (Greta Gerwig), the only woman he has ever loved. With Naomi’s inspiration and some unconventional help from Hobson, Arthur will take the most expensive risk of his life and finally learn what it means to become a man, in this re-imagining of the classic romantic comedy “Arthur.”

The movie looks to have great potential but it looks like they are leaving out a major part of the original- his alcoholism. That was part of what made the original a classic. If they leave that out I think this is destined for a failure.

Arthur is a great movie, and if the remake was handled with respect than I could get excited for it, but as it stands I absolutely despise Russell Brand, and so I have every confidence that I’m going to despise this movie.
