English Playwright Michael Lesslie to Pen ASSASSIN’S CREED Script

     January 15, 2013

Ubisoft has hired acclaimed English playwright Michael Lesslie to pen the script for the upcoming film adaptation of the hit video game, Assassin’s Creed.  As we previously reported, Michael Fassbender will play an average guy in the present day who is kidnapped by a mysterious organization and forced to relive his “genetic memory” of a being an assassin in various eras.  The games have taken place during the Third Crusade, the Renaissance, and the American Revolution.  There’s currently no word on when the film will take place.  Although the first game took place during the Crusade, the Assassin’s Creed II series (which also included Brotherhood and Revelations) is when the series really caught fire, so Ubisoft may opt to send the protagonist into that time period.

Sound off in the comments about when you’d like to see the Assassin’s Creed movie take place. [THR]

I don’t like this genetic memory thing.

Just make a story about Altair or Ezio, without any reference to the modern era.

True, Desmond in every game has been the weak and pointless link.

I absolutely agree with you. Also, why does his damn face with every installment !?
His entire “story” is unnecessary shoehorned, and ultimately the better part of the games aka the Historical aspect gets hurt in the process.

Its funny because I felt like Damon was the thing that really drew me into the first game. It was Ubisofts inability to utilize the plot element later that was a let down not that part of the story as a whole. In fact Ubisofts complete commitment to the assassin portion of the story rather than giving Damon a bigger share later was one of the things that really started to bring the series down. Each successive game was worse than the last, and the misuse of desmond’s character seemed to go hand and hand with that.

Woops I said damon twice instead of Desmond… dont know why I did that. Memory lapse.
