A new featurette for Universal’s Fast & Furious 6 has gone online today. The three minute video consists of the cast talking about their experiences with the film, the stunts, and their co-stars. The featurette also showcases snippets of behind the scenes footage and various action moments already seen in the film’s trailer, including the impressive sequence of Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, and company pulling down a commercial sized airliner with only a cable and four wheels. With a large and genial cast (including a lot of returning stars), impressive set pieces, and a prime summer release date, director Justin Lin looks to be delivering a worthy addition to a sometimes tired franchise.
The film also stars Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Joe Taslim, and Luke Evans. Fast & Furious 6 opens May 24th. Hit the jump to watch the featurette.
Oblivion, Universal’s latest sci-fi endeavor, will now hit IMAX screens non-IMAX screens on April 19th. Universal had previously planned to sneak the film in IMAX on April 12th. Deadline is reporting that pushing the Tom Cruise vehicle back a week will result with less competition in theaters with only Ashton Kutcher’s jOBS set to release that week, and will allow the star to court the ever important international market where the film is still set to release on April 12th. Also, Universal will give its release of Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park 3D, out on April 5th, some breathing room allowing moviegoers an extra week to fondly revisit 1993, and get their dinosaur fix in stunning IMAX. This follows the studio’s other recent changes to Kick-Ass 2 (August 16th) and 2 Guns (August 2nd) as well as the announcement that R.I.P.D. (July 19th) will be released in 3D.
Director Bryan Singer (X-Men) has added yet another returning star in the jam-packed cast for his upcoming comic book film X-Men: Days of Future Past. The actress will be starring alongside other big names such as James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Peter Dinklage when the film opens July 18, 2014. The official Facebook page of the comic book sequel 300: Rise of an Empire was updated with a new image showcasing the film’s title in typical Spartan fashion. The title image shares many similarities with its predecessor, the Gerald Butler blockbuster 300, but fails to offer any new information aside from indicating that they intend to stick to this title (the follow-up was previously called 300: Battle of Artemisia). 300: Rise of an Empire is set to hit theaters August 2nd 2013 and stars Rodrigo Santoro, Eva Green and Sullivan Stapleton, and is loosely based on the comic ”Xeres” by Frank Miller. Hit the jump for the full res image and for more information on the spin-off/sequel.
