We just noticed, but the first trailer for Scott Manns “The Tournament” popped up on YouTube. Its got Russian watermarks and subtitles, so something tells me this thing shouldnt even be on the interweb. Either way, it looks like a fairly competent action flick starring Robert Carlyle, Ving Rhames, Ian Somerhalder and Kelly Hu blasting everything in their path to hell. Synopsis and trailer after the jump.

Back in June, we posted the trailer to Paramount Vantage’s “Carriers”, a two year old horror film starring Chris Pine that got the old dust-off after the success of “Star Trek”. The films theatrical run will begin September 4th, but only in limited markets. The markets in which the film will actually be shown seem pretty random, as not even New York or LA are getting the film. Synopsis and list of markets after the jump.

You’ve seen this movie before. You saw it (or maybe you didn’t) when it was called “Roger and Me”, “Bowling for Columbine”, “Fahrenheit 9/11″ and “Sicko”. It’s the kind of film designed to rouse an already-infuriated choir and ignored by those who never planned on attending the recital. This time it’s “Capitalism: A Love Story”, and Moore has now set his sights on the worldwide financial crisis, the government bailout, and the Wall Street jagoffs who precipitated the breakdown of the American financial sector. Yes, Moore’s heart is in the right place but his mouth with his endless sarcasm and maudlin profiles of real Americans, you can bet the film will once again draw more attention to Moore himself than the financial and legislative clusterfuck he hopes to expose. More info and the trailer after the jump.

Director Michael Davis and The Hollywood Gang’s Gianni Nunnari are planning a remake of Outland, the 1981 sci-fi Sean Connery action flick. The script will be written by Chad St. John, who wrote the WB’s “The Days Before”. Outland was basically High Noon in space, and its one of the more unlikely films to get a remake, which I must say is to its credit. Seeing as Shoot ‘Em Up was one of the best times I have had at the movies in years, I cant be anything but excited. Synopsis and more after the jump.

Oliver Stone will revisit the history he so likes to revise by trying his hand at Ken Burns’ game. Showtime announced today that Stone will direct a 10 hour miniseries entitled “Secret History of America”, which Stone will also narrate. The series will focus on events that at the time “were under-reported”, but signified important changes for the future of America, like “Harry Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan”. Under-reported? Am I wrong in thinking that the atomic bomb didn’t exactly fly under the radar? More historical secrets that may-not-be-so-secret after the jump.

First off, we must be clear that this is all strictly RUMOR material. Nothing is confirmed, and while this rumor has been attributed to a credible source, things are always subject to change.
At Comic-Con, Steve had a chance to talk to Peter Jackson about his upcoming projects, and he briefly touched on “The Hobbit”. Though he said no casting decisions had been made, he did say that “The Hobbit” would be in two parts, with the first to release in December 2011 and the second in December 2012. My, how things change in a matter of two weeks. MarketSaw has it on good faith (again, rumor) that a THIRD hobbit movie is now scheduled, which will act as a bridge to the Lord of the Rings series. More rumor info that you’re going to want to read after the jump.

George Nolfi’s upcoming “The Adjustment Bureau” has added another cast member with “The Hurt Locker” star Anthony Mackie joining Matt Damon and Emily Blunt in the sci-fi thriller. Adapted from a Philip K. Dick short-story, “Bureau” centers on a smooth-talking congressman whose political future is thrown in doubt by the arrival of a mysterious ballerina in his life. It is common sense to avoid mysterious ballerinas.
Mackie is a great addition to this cast and when you consider that Nolfi is writing and directing (Nolfi wrote “The Bourne Ultimatum”, one of the best action films of the last decade), things are really coming together for a chance at the first good Philip K. Dick adaptation since “Minority Report” (or “Total Recall” if you’re being less charitable). [Variety]

The other day Steve posted the first images from “Werner Herzog’s My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done”, which is set to premier at the Toronto Film Festival next month, and now a trailer for the film has gone online (link after the jump). The film stars Michael Shannon, Willem Dafoe, Chloe Sevigny, Udo Kier, and Michael Pena.
