Salmon Fishing in the Yemen is an unlikely movie on many accounts. First of all, if you don’t know geography, there are no salmon in Yemen rivers. That’s the point of the movie, a Scottish fisheries administrator (Ewan McGregor) is hired by a Sheikh to transplant fish to his river so he can practice fly fishing. There the government scientist strikes up an unlikely romance with the Sheikh’s representative (Emily Blunt). Director Lasse Hallstrom strikes a balance of comedy, drama and romance.
Blunt and McGregor participated in a press day for the film in Los Angeles, joining together for roundtable interviews. The leading man and leading lady flirted generously and cracked up while discussing the film and some upcoming projects, including the fantasy fairy tale Jack the Giant Killer and the sci-fi action thriller Looper. Salmon Fishing in the Yemen opens Friday. Read the interview after the jump.

The cast of Drive came to the Toronto International Film Festival for one last stop before the film opened this weekend. Bryan Cranston, who plays Driver (Ryan Gosling)’s scheming partner Shannon, turns in one of the film’s many memorable performances. During the interview, Cranston discussed making Drive, the end of his AMC TV series Breaking Bad, and his role in the Len Wiseman remake of Total Recall. Hit the jump for more.

When Harrison Ford is the guest of honor, you can expect a lot of big names to follow in his presence. At The Empire Gives Back charity screening of The Empire Strikes Back (read our recap of the event here), Ford spoke about his Star Wars experiences. Jon Favreau, who will be directing Ford in the sci-fi western Cowboys and Aliens, came by just to see the show, but he was also willing to chat for a few minutes about that film after the theater cleared out.
During the Q&A, Ford complimented Favreau as one of the new great directors, so Favreau basked in the glory of Han Solo/Indiana Jones/Rick Deckard singing his praises. For those who don’t know, the film—which co-stars Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, and Sam Rockwell—is about humans fighting off aliens in the Old West. Favreau had some big news about the picture he released on Twitter two days ago, and what we can expect from Ford in the film.
