You know the main character, The Doctor, well… he dies. Those unfamiliar with the show might be thinking, “a spoiler warning would’ve been nice, dude”, but that’s just episode one of the sixth series. Note: Time isn’t always linear. Welcome to the wondrous world of Doctor Who. More bounding through space time after the jump in our review of the complete sixth series on Blu-ray.

What do you call something that combines gang warfare, race relations and Shakespeare? Well, if you add infectious songs and unbelievable dancing, you call it West Side Story. More Jets and Sharks in our review of the 50th Anniversary West Side Story Blu-ray after the jump.

To fight in the arena, you must have skill, strength and a physique I could never even dream to achieve. In Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, the prequel to the Starz series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, we see the posturing, deception and loss necessary to elevate the House Batiatus as Capua stands on the precipice of the opening of its great arena… More blood and sandals after the jump.

Doctor Who fires on all cylinders, storming into Series Six, Part One with a trip to America, culminating with a good man going to war. In between, we’re introduced to both the Silence and the Gangers. And it all ties ever so neatly together, except for the stuff that doesn’t tie up at all… More wibbly time matters after the jump.

When Captain Jack Harkness enters a room at San Diego Comic Con, everyone salutes. Especially when he (John Barrowman), comes along with Eve Myles, Alexa Havins, Mekhi Phifer, Bill Pullman and writer Jane Espenson. During this year’s Comic-Con, I was able to speak with the stars of Torchwood: Miracle Day after their panel. They talked about if it’s a good idea for Harkness and Gwen to hook up? How will Harkness deal with mortality? What brought the new talent to the Torchwood: Miracle Day? Hit the jump to find out.

With the approach of Chuck’s fifth and final Season, I got a chance to sit down with cast members Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Adam Baldwin, Scott Krinsky, Vik Sahay, Ryan McPartlin and co-creator Chris Fedak, and intersect some knowledge to pass along to you. For instance, the fifth Season will be comprised of 13 episodes with a major guest star in the form of Mark Hamill as a villain, and they’d love for Linda Hamilton to return to the show, depending on her schedule. Much more after the jump.

As a fan of Spartacus: Blood and Sand (Season One) and Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (the prequel series), I was excited to see what Season Two (named Vengeance) had in store for us. While the cast and creator Steven S. DeKnight were generally tight-lipped about plot points, a couple of interesting tidbits slipped through.
Vengeance starts within a month or two after the end of Season One. Plans since the beginning was to have the women fight, since that is historically accurate. There will be a female warrior towards the middle of the season. Another addition will be Gaius Claudius Glaber (Craig Parker) who will be sent in by Rome to quell the slave uprising. Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay) will return and Lucretia returns in Episode One, though how she survived the stabbing won’t be explained straight off, but DeKnight said it will be explained. Continued after the jump.

If you’re old enough, you remember the original incarnations of V and V: The Final Battle. Me? I used to stay up late to watch them when they were re-run as a child. I was fascinated by the Visitors and when I learned ABC has rebooting the show, I was on-board for, at the very least, the beginning. Did I want to stay after that? Find out after the jump.

When I was a kid, I wanted to belong to a group like The Goonies. Like most creative types, I was an outsider, so the film and characters spoke to me. Smartly, there was one of every type to make all sorts of misfits feel at home. Does it stand the test of time? Can you go home again? Find out after the jump:

Lost in space, low on supplies and morale, ready for in-fighting to do them all in at any moment, the reluctant crew of the Defiant searches for a way home and a means to survive the far reaches of space. This is the overarching story of Stargate Universe. A different direction for the Stargate franchise, it’s the characters (and thusly, the performances) that bring this series to life. More after the jump:

Chuck Bartowski lives the geek dream. He has the ability to pull up information and physical skills on demand. He has good friends and a loving sister. He even gets to make out with a hot blonde trained in firearms. It’s too bad everyone’s out to kill him. More after the jump:

Nestled amongst taco trucks, tequila and Tecate Light, Robert Rodriguez introduced the gathered crowd at Comic-Con to his latest effort Machete. Did he do this in Hall H? Ballroom 20? No, he loaded up a parking lot in the San Diego Gaslamp District with food, drinks, the kind of cars you’ve seen in rap videos and about five hundred of his newest friends. Once the party was in full swing, Rodriguez took the stage with Machete himself Danny Trejo and his lovely co-star Michelle Rodriguez to prep the crowd for about seven minutes from the film. He closed saying, “oh, and this last bit needs a bit of set up. You should know that he just learned that the human intestine is ten times the length of the human body…” I’ll let you’re imagination ride that out to its conclusion while you wait for this clearly fun and entertaining film to come to your local cineplex.
I got to chat with Robert Rodriguez, Danny Trejo and Michelle Rodriguez before the festivities kicked off. We talked about the genesis and evolution of Machete, weapons and what’s next. Hit the jump to check it out:

For those that don’t know, Human Target started as a DC Comics comic book. Fact. It was brought to television last year with a trio of talented actors at its core — Mark Valley as Christopher Chase, Chi McBride as Winston and Jackie Earle Haley as Guerrero. This season a new showrunner, Matthew Miller, takes the reins fresh off his work on Chuck. We got a chance to speak with all four and talk about season two. They talked about the storyline, casting, and a lot more:

Earlier in the day, the throngs of people who flooded Room 6BCD were treated to a panel discussion and trailer for AMC’s upcoming series The Walking Dead, based on the comic book by Robert Kirkman. Following, I had the chance to sit down with writer/director/executive producer Frank Darabont, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd, special effects/makeup designer Greg Nicotero and stars Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori Grimes), Jon Bernthal (Shane Walsh), Laurie Holden (Andrea), and Emma Bell (Amy).
Their excitement for this project was evident, despite having travelled from shooting and low on sleep. The series is shooting in Atlanta (the first indication of the desire to stay true to the source material). They are about to go into shooting episode five of the first season’s six episodes. Hit the jump to hear what they had to say.

Remember how Deep Space Nine was the game changer for the Star Trek series, taking the concept in a gritty, new direction? Stargate Universe sees that challenge and raises it. What a difference one measly chevron makes.
The best way to sum up Stargate Universe is the Bob Marley tune Buffalo Soldiers: “Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival”. For those that don’t speak rasta, understand that the plight of Stargate Universe is a gritty struggle wherein the winner gets to live another day. The heretofore unheard of ninth chevron dictates the shift of Stargate Universe. Previously in the Stargate universe, characters used eight chevrons to dial up a planet. In order to dial into this mysterious ninth chevron, the Stargate requires massive amounts of power. A team of scientists stationed off-world attempt to discern how to channel that planet’s energy into the Stargate to activate the ninth chevron not fully realizing exactly what’s on the other side. When the planet falls under attack, they use the gate as their means of escape and find themselves trapped aboard The Ancients’ ship Destiny. I’m sure back in the day this was quite the flagship, but it has fallen in disrepair over the many years of abandonment and our hodgepodge crew must think fast to acquire just the rudimentary necessities to live. So important are these little things we take for granted that episodes take on the necessity as a title such as Air, Water and Time. More after the jump.
