High-Quality AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Set Photos Offer Better Look at Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Ultron

Earlier today, we posted unofficial video and photos from the Avengers: Age of Ultron shoot in Italy.  What they boast in cool, they lack in clarity.  Now we can update the collection with higher quality photos of the same scene to give you a clearer look at Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, James Spader (or his stunt double) in what we presume is Ultron, plus a bonus shot of director Joss Whedon.  This photo leak could pressure Marvel to release official images soon, especially in the case of Ultron, who likely has some CG in his character design.

Hit the jump to check out the images.  Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany, and Mark Ruffalo also star.  Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1, 2015.

At first glance I thought quicksilver looked like the member of a 90′s boy band. I’ll get over it though, this will be an awesome movie

    • Batt Damon

They should’ve given us a Hawkguy show instead of Agents of SHIELD

      • Oliver Queen

        *Hawkeye

      • Batt Damon

Bro bro bro bro seriously seriously seriously seriously

    • Gregory Otis Dow

I agree and was a little shocked at how he looked but ya this movie will be epic

  • Jose G Delgado Jr

Looks like Renner felt alright about his character this time around… after his public complaint I was almost certain that there was going to be a recast in the cards.

    • STAR-LORD #ROUGE SQUAD

He didn’t have problem with it as much as that article said. He already signed his contract and Joss said he agreed with his statement. They only way they can recast is the Tarrence Howard situation were he wanted more money and he was replaced with Don C. I think that writer wanted to get attention. He was never in a bad place with Joss who said he can’t see anyone but Renner as Hawkeye.

      • Gregory Otis Dow

Agreed they blew the whole thing out of proportion but hey no pr is bad they say

  • Ben

Renner’s comment was taken out of context and hyped up beyond belief. Whedon himself expressed the same frustration in almost the same words, they both knew that the only way to keep Hawkeye in the Avengers was to have him brainwashed and in the original interview Renner went out of his way to say he has grateful, but looked forward to being able to play the character properly. It always was a non-story.

    • STAR-LORD #ROUGE SQUAD

I agree. He held his own and had some great kills he was born to play Hawkeye!

  • Steven Burgas

Ugh. The first was such an empty plastic mess.

    No thanks.

    • MITIOR

I haven’t been able to re-watch that movie again. It just felt like empty action.

      • Steven Burgas

        Just painfully dull, eh?

      • MITIOR

It is, I know I’m supposed to be excited about all the action going on but it leaves me jaded.

    • Guest

Dude. This was just for the raw filming.
Post-production CGI will fill in the rest and deliver a polished look.

      • Melwing

I agree with you, but they are talking about the first film so your comment doesn’t really fit.

  • Drake

So glad to see Renner back in action! Also, Scarlett Witch looks fantastic! Can’t wait

  • eternalozzie

It looks pretty good … Scarlett Witch looks great … Quicksilver not so much … the Evan Peter 70s quicksilver is cooler but it will be interesting to see the same character in both universes

    • Batt Damon

      hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

    • The Destroyer

I agree, 70′s Quicksilver makes sense and I have no problem with it. This just looks stupid, and why is his beard a different color from his hair?

  • fast man

THE CONCEPT ART FOR QUICKSILVER, looked a lot better than this photos i hope this is some temporal suit, but i don’t trust at all in whedon, so i guess the final version.

    • cruzzercruz

It looks pretty much the same except that they added the silver design to the shirt and dyed his hair, which is longer. Oh, and it’s on a real person so it won’t look as cool as a drawing.

  • bidi

    holy guy-liner, Quicksilver!

Quicksilver looks like a reject from Sigfried and Roy lookalike contest. Curious to see the final outcome.

  • ʝoe ßloggs

Very intriguing. Though admittedly, Liz Olsen is all I see.
    Swoon. :P

    • Silverchair76

      Agreed friend

    • James

I agree. I love her look. Looks sexy as hell, but I’ve always been a sucker for a look like that.

  • brNdon

What the hell happened to the Quicksilver from the concept art?!

    • MJ

Yea, he looks like he just climbed out of a frat house where the guys tried to dye his hair after his bender went south.

      • 80sRobot

He looks like Chris Elliott in a bad wig.

  • MJ

Looks like they are already making the mistake of most big budget action sequels:

    1. Go too dark

    2. Have too many bad guys.

    • cruzzercruz

Is this sarcasm? How do you know the tone of the film is too dark from set photos? Because Whedon said it’d be “darker”? I doubt it’s going to go too far into that territory.

And as of now, there’s two actual villains in the film, one in the beginning to dive into the action and one main villain, with the twins changing sides. How does that sound like too many villains?

      • MJ

“Because Whedon said it’d be “darker”?”

SJ also said it was very dark. Pay attention please.

      • cruzzercruz

Yeah, “darker” than the Avengers could be Disney Channel levels of grit, given how light that movie was. Is that already “too dark?” Clearly, I’m doing a little more than paying attention to the generic descriptions of the film during PR sessions and actually taking a second to think about the film.

      • MJ

You go right on believing that this is false news and that Quicksilver looks great in that costume.

It’s a free country, so you can believe whatever you like.

      • cruzzercruz

Great? No. Like the actual character he’s portraying? Yeah, with a slightly different haircut.

  • Melwing

I must say that I am just very tickled that Kick-Ass is an Avenger.

    • Fahad Ali

See it this way. Either Avengers are Kick-Ass, or Kick-Ass like to avenge!

But I see where you are coming from. I’m going to have to adjust to this when I see it next year. Luckily, we have Godzilla in between to wash my eyes with!

Understand some of the comments about Quicksilvers look, but I’ve got a different angle that Whedon may have gone for. Quicksilver’s traditionally been a bit of an up-himself shmuck, and visually, Whedon may be playing that up – with the bad dye-job, Rob-Loe in Californication-facial hair and spandex-y outfit. I can kind of see how that would/could fit with the character, and be used as cannon fodder for Whedon’s style of humour.

  • cruzzercruz

This Quicksilver looks much better, people are just riding the hate wave because it’s Whedon. It’s cool to hate Whedon now because he’s saturated in the media. The haircut itself is better, the black roots actually make his hair more realistic for being silver, as opposed to looking like a stupid wig. His outfit is a realistic version of the one in the comics, which instead of being spandex, would be athletic gear.

    • MJ

Could it possibly have nothing to do with anyone’s opinion on Whedon and instead have everything to do with our initial reaction to seeing a character in the photo who looks like he belongs more on 21 Jump Street than and Avengers movie? LOL

      • cruzzercruz

21 Jump Street? Why, because he’s young? He’s wearing a colorful costume and posing in action stances, looks pretty much like everyone else in the film. It’s exactly how the set photos from the first one looked, too.

        LUL

      • MJ

Nobody in the first movie looked like the Backstreet Boys, Hanson or Boyzone.

    • SpaceballsTheColoringBook

That’s rich. Like there’s some anti-Whedon conspiracy. Last time I checked, fans will defend whatever that man does to the death, including making his version of Quicksilver look like a male prostitute. The guy’s a religion onto himself; hell, I bet there are religious extremists in this country who wish they could get Joss Whedon on board for their PR.

      • cruzzercruz

No conspiracy necessary. The man has ardent followers and now that he’s big, he’s got a whole wave of people riding the backlash against him because they dislike the “cult of Whedon.” It happens with every modern director who gets popular and saturated in the media, especially when it comes to films over which internet fanboys are going to have vitriolic opinions.

      • SpaceballsTheColoringBook

There’s a wave??? And here I thought I was just a lone nut. Where do I find this wave? I wanna party with those guys.

I still don’t like Quicksilver’s look. Maybe its just me but his facial features are just really feminine

  • brett

I am SO psyched for this movie. Wish Scarlet Witch had more of a costume and my ONLY complaint about Quicksilver is that I wish someone would comb his friggin hair. It’s a mess. Like the shirt though

    • Riley 1066

You try keeping your hair neat after running 500 mph :-)

Scarlett Witch looks like the young version out of the cartoon X-Men Evolution

I know right. And healthily built too.

  • 80sRobot

So weird she’s related to the Olsen twins — obviously, she resembles them, but Elizabeth is the one who looks “normal.”

  • Oliver Queen

Would be awesome if he made a cameo in Cap 2. Can’t wait to see him interact more with the other Avengers :D

  • Oliver Queen

I couldn’t disagree more about Liz O looking hotter and ScarJo, jokes both look very hot but i’ve just been a ScarJo fan longer. Also Whedon said we will see Ultron evolve so hopefully we will see him as a human sized robot at the start and a giant Hulk sized robot by the film’s third act. :D

  • Masshuu il Malacandra

Well, Jeremy Renner’s badmouthing his role in The Avengers didn’t help his street cred for follow up appearances. Personally I’m surprised he’s even in AAoU after that. Don’t get me wrong, I like him as an actor and as Hawkeye but you do not bite the hand that feeds you.
