And you thought Marvel was done with the Avengers: Age of Ultron character posters. After the slew of superhero one-sheets showcasing both the existing Avengers team and newcomers Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), the Marvel sequel’s primary villain now gets his own Avengers 2 poster. Ultron is a byproduct of Tony Stark’s effort to create a robot task force, which is Stark’s way of alleviating the pressure on The Avengers to be the world’s police. Obviously things go south and Ultron gets feelings/ideas of his own, which sets into motion the central conflict of writer/director Joss Whedon’s highly anticipated film.

I think one of the things I’m looking forward to the most is seeing James Spader take on such a fascinating character. The guy is a pro at chewing scenery, so I’m curious to see if that translates to a motion-capture performance. The glimpses of Ultron in action we’ve seen thus far have been promising, and the prospect of Spader spewing Whedon-penned dialogue is reason enough to buy a ticket.
