We know we’ve got a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel coming on July 28, 2017, but what’s to stop the characters from popping up in other Marvel movies as well?  Knowing the MCU and what the filmmakers have already teased, nothing at all.  In fact, a report just surfaced claiming that Dave Bautista is currently restructuring his contract so that he’ll benefit from Guardians’ financial success and also lock himself in for “a number of other Marvel movies,” including Avengers 3.

Having walked into Guardians expecting to play favorites with Star Lord (Chris Pratt) and Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer proved to be quite the surprise, winning me over with his hilariously literally approach to everything, so at this point, I say the more Drax the better.  Hit the jump for more on his possible multiple Marvel movie return.

The news comes from PW Mania (via /Film), a site that focuses on wrestling.  The outlet makes no mention of a source, but claims that Marvel Studios is making changes to Bautista’s deal that would result in him having a “significant role” in Avengers 3.  Again, the studio hasn’t confirmed this so it’s not a sure thing, but director James Gunn did say that Guardians is “definitely” connected to Avengers 3, so if that’s the case, Drax’s involvement would make sense.

Then, of course, there’s also Thanos (Josh Brolin).  Gunn has mentioned that Thanos will only pop up in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 if he serves the story, but if not, he won’t be involved at all.  However, it does seem likely that the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers could unite in one big battle against Thanos down the line, probably in Avengers 3.

But, yet again, this is all speculation and Bautista’s involvement in future films is not confirmed.  If Avengers 3 really is getting that May 4th, 2018 release date, it might be a little while until we’ve got a clear sense of what’s really going on.
