Last week Marvel announced 5 Untitled Movies with release dates stretching all the way up until May of 2019.  At the time, I guessed that the one bearing the date of May 3rd, 2019 would be Avengers 3 since that franchise’s signature early May release date was missing from the 2018 slate and 2017 seemed just a bit too soon to get everyone together again.

I’m doing away with that theory at this point because Marvel just announced yet another film for May 4th, 2018.  That first week of May is Avengers territory and 2018 is one whole year sooner that the studio gets to trot out their most valuable IP.  It makes sense that they want as few gaps between these things as possible.  So now I’m going to guess that  Avengers 3 hits on May 4th, 2018.  Hit the jump for more on this potential Avengers 3 release date.

Again, I could be wrong. It could also hit in 2019, but this 2018 date feels much more timely and in line with the general clip at which Marvel operates.  Also cool?  This gives us one more Marvel movie that could potentially be unveiled this week at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Here’s what the Marvel Release slate looks like now:

  • Guardians Of The Galaxy - 8/1/14
  • Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 5/1/15;
  • Ant-Man - 7/17/2015
  • Captain America 3 - 5/6/2016
  • Marvel Untitled - 7/8/16
  • Marvel Untitled - 5/5/17
  • Marvel Untitled – 7/28/17
  • Marvel Untitled – 11/3/17
  • Marvel Untitled – 7/6/18
  • Marvel Untitled – 11/2/18
  • Marvel Untitled - 5/3/18 (potentially Avengers 3)
  • Marvel Untitled – 5/3/19

There's no doubt in my mind some of these blank titles will be filled in this week at Comic-Con.  As I mentioned last week I expect that Scott Derrickson‘s upcoming Doctor Strange will fall on one of the previously released dates.  If I were a betting man I'd also put a small amount of money on a Guardians of the Galaxy 2 announcement along with a smattering of standalone films.  What about you?  Do you expect to see Iron Man 4 announced even?
