It's easy to get confused about the what and where (and sometimes why) of the MCU regarding when the next movies are coming down the pike and who they will involve. But in an interview with Blastr from New York Comic Con, Evangeline Lilly sets the record straight at least with what's going on with her character, Hope Pym (a.k.a. The Wasp), in the next round of Marvel movies.

According to Lilly, Ant-Man and the Wasp (i.e. Ant-Man 2) will serve as an origin story for Hope as the Wasp, where we'll get to see her trying on the suit and flying around for the first time. Though the Ant-Man and the Wasp script has been finished, it hasn't been approved yet to move forward. But Lilly said that the reveal of the Wasp costume and exploring that character is something that they definitely want to save for a stand-alone movie. That's why Lilly won't be in the third Avengers movie, Infinity War, but she will be part of the team for Avengers 4 (which is set to come out the following year).

Check out the video interview below:

Lilly also jokes that -- in response to Paul Rudd getting to be in Civil War without her -- “all I do when I’m around Paul is punch him in the face. It’s what we do, it’s our dynamic."

We don't know much else about Ant-Man and the Wasp that this point (except that Michael Peña will return!), since the script is still waiting for approval, and we also don't have a cast list yet for Avengers: Infinity War. So in other words, the Wasp may not be the only character who is left out of Infinity War only to return in Avengers 4. The cast list is growing rather huge (and we still don't know if the Netflix Marvel series will be included fully or not into the movies at that point), and even though Civil War did an astonishing job of time management given its sprawling cast, it feels like things might be helped along but spacing out all of the cameos. But we'll see!
