Even though I think Guardians of the Galaxy trumped 2012′s Avengers in overall quality, I wouldn’t count the supremely talented Joss Whedon out in terms of one-upping it in the Avengers: Age of Ultron. He’s certainly not lacking in ability and, if this synopsis is any indication (and one assumes that it is), Age of Ultron will be insanely eventful. It also looks like it corrects the original film’s first act issues.
“When Tony Stark jumpstarts a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as they battle to save the planet from destruction at the hands of the villainous Ultron.” Hit the jump to check out the full synopsis. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Cobie Smulders, James Spader, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1, 2015.

Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision. Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963.
