Apparently this is the week that all of the big 2015 releases complete principal photography.  Kate Mara marked then end of The Fantastic Four filming with an image of her and her three other fellow superheroes, director Colin Trevorrow celebrated the conclusion of Jurassic World’s shoot with a dead dino image, and now Joss Whedon has gotten in on the fun with Avengers: Age of Ultron.  It appears that the Marvel sequel has now completed principal photography, as Whedon tweeted out an Avengers: Age of Ultron set image earlier today of himself with the swell caption “What the hell do I do now?”  Obviously the answer is dive headfirst into the post-production process until next May, but I will be curious to see if Whedon renews his Marvel contract (which ends in 2015) and sticks around for Avengers 3.

Hit the jump to check out the Avengers: Age of Ultron set image from Whedon.  The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson, James Spader, Cobie Smulders, Paul Bettany, and Don CheadleAvengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters on May 1, 2015.

    Yay!

He’d better be back for Avengers 3. You know you can’t just up and leave on us, Joss!

    • Dev1359

I have little doubt he’ll be back. Avengers was his first real success after going through multiple failures over the past two decades (only thing relatively successful he ever did was probably Buffy), if he’s smart he’ll come back for another huge paycheck

      • cruzzercruz

Well, technically Angel was a big success, even though it was a Buffy spin-off. I’m sure he’ll want the money, but the man has gone beyond a cult idol and become someone Hollywood might pursue now.

  • Manuel Orozco

    That was fast

    • statostatostato

Well they’ve been shootin’ since February, so compared to other blockbusters it’s actually pretty long

      • Manuel Orozco

I was’nt following with the filming updates the last time i checked they were filming in London

      • statostatostato

Yeah, the majority was done in London, but the shoot began in Johannesburg in February if I remember correctly

      • Manuel Orozco

        I do

      • Manuel Orozco

Besides i did not want to get any spoilers

  • mattinacan

    i just want GOTG2

Star Wars IX Joss, Star wars IX.

    Dr. Horrible Season 2!

  • Leroy

What the hell does he do now? Edit your movie.

  • GunzOfNavarone

There is so much riding on this film that I wonder whether it will live up to expectation.

    • http://www.edwardmordrake.com ~EDWARD MORDRAKE~

I can’t believe you just said that. People made the same comment about the 1st film & it turned out to be the greatest comic book movie ever!

      • D

I think that sentiment is exactly the what GunzOfNavarone is talking about. Joss Whedon and co. are very talented, but they’re following up a movie that some would call the greatest comic book movie ever which is also the third highest grossing film ever. There are a lot of people with a lot of expectations for this film, and the filmmakers are only human after all. That said, I’ll be in line opening night and I do expect that I will enjoy myself tremendously.

      • JudgeMethos

A lot of folks forget though. Joss wanted to do Ultron because he loves the character. With that kinda passion for a villain and the family relationship of the Avengers, the dude seems like he’s in heaven living out a fanboys dream. I’m sure it’ll be awesome. The fact that Spader is voicing the character is enough for me. LoL!

Dust off a few scripts of Firefly would be my first recommendation to Joss. So much of that ‘verse to be explored.

    • awer

Let it go….let it go… It will never happen.

    • enderandrew

All the other actors are doing other TV shows. Logistically it can’t happen. Joss has said he won’t try and force it, because it means asking actors to quit other shows.

      • cruzzercruz

They’re doing absolutely nothing of value. In a perfect world, they’d hit the gym (mainly Fillion), and reunite. Every time I see Castle on tv, my fist clenches.

      • Aquartertoseven

All of them are pretty much available, Fillion is the only one with year long work and I think Castle’s ending next year, so it shouldn’t be too difficult for Joss to bring them all together.

  • Strong Enough

Every interview i see Joss looks all Marveled out and. exhausted.

    • ʝoe βloggs

If I was fighting that many Ultrons, I’d be tired too. :(

      • Strong Enough

i guess he ran out of Forehead power

        chuckle, chuckle.

  • Drake

Well Joss, you could always hit us up with some more Firefly…

    “What do I do now”???

    Start the post production, moron!!!

What do you do now? Show something to the millions of fans from around the world who have lives and can’t sleep outside of Comi-Con.

    • Aquartertoseven

Do you really want to spoil any footage for yourself? Do you need to be sold on it?

      • Kyle Chandler

I don’t! I hope the only ads are in print and show just the logo. In a perfect world, that’d be the case.

Save on marketing and the spoilers, Marvel!

      • Aquartertoseven

I saw Dawn two days ago having seen no trailers (except the first one that didn’t show anything much) and afterwards I watched a Half in the Bag review of it, with smatterings of later trailer footage interspersed and wow, am I glad that I got to experience all of that, rather than expect it. I can’t remember the last time I saw a film at the cinema whilst going in relatively blind, if only I could exercise that restraint consistently, I’d enjoy films a lot more, we all would.

      • Kyle Chandler

That’s a fantastic movie to go in fresh for! I really wish I had that experience with guardians, but there was no way that was going to happen.

      • Travis Gowen

Are you asking if I am excited to get a look at Ultron? The answer is yes. Is that me needing to be sold on the movie? Not at all.

I don’t. I hope Joss Whedon returns to direct and write The Avengers 3.

Now that The Avengers: Age of Ultron has finished filming, I am looking forward to see the teaser trailer for it, that is expected to come out on the internet sometime on or between October 21st and October 23rd -> http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Darman/news/?a=105453

Him not returning for A3 would just be plain stupid. That’s like making 2/3rds of a whole and just stopping before it’s finished.

    • Sean

      I completely agree.
