Hopefully you haven’t had enough Avengers: Age of Ultron yet because there’s still more information about the film coming in.  So far today we’ve told you about Paul Bettany‘s rendition of Vision and a bit about how Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) will fit into the film, but now we’ve got a little more on the main antagonist, James Spader‘s Ultron, and some rather spoiler-heavy story details as well.

It’s a little surprising that so much Avengers news is hitting just about a week before Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, but perhaps all of this information will pertain to and possibly enhance the footage they’re planning to show in Hall H on Saturday.  Hit the jump for more.

avengers-age-of-ultron-chris-evans-chris-hemsworthAccording to EW, Ultron lacks a human core, so Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) opts to give him a semblance of one by infusing Ultron with pieces of his very own personality.  However, that doesn’t work out particularly well.  Chris Hemsworth explains:

“It’s not the good version that could’ve come from [Stark's] intellect and personality … It’s the bad son.”

Ultron is striving for world peace, but the problem is, his way of achieving that is by eradicating the human race entirely.  In the midst of one of his first big battles, the character warns:

“I know you’re ‘good’ people … I know you mean well … but you just didn’t think it through … There is only one path to peace … your extermination.”

Clearly Ultron’s mission isn’t the best thing for us human folks, but Chris Evans still suggests that having a chat with the guy could be enlightening:

“A lot of times when Ultron starts talking, it’s beautiful.  It’s really intelligent stuff …  He’s out to do the things he wants to do because he’s disgusted with X, Y, and Z.  You could probably sit down with Ultron and have a really intelligent conversation.  He could blow your mind with his views.”

World “piece”, eh? Hehe. So, Ultron is out to screw us and in more ways than one. Well, that explains the newly formed hole in Siberia if Ultron also inherited Tony’s cojones.

Ultron sounds like Ozymandias. Any fans of the source material that can confirm or elaborate?

    • Kyle Chandler

I’d say they both share an unimaginable intellect that has driven them towards extreme solutions, but I feel like that’s probably where the similarities end. Ozymandias came from a place of pragmatism, whereas Ultron, comes from a place of emotion (ironic because he’s a robot, right?).

Also, ultron is a genocidal psychopath with an Oedipus complex.

Well they don’t want to get sued by DC.

What bugs me is that everyone in this cast is really really ridiculously good looking. There is more to life than that.

    • marrowbonez

Steve Buscemi should have been cast as Tony Stark and Napoleon Dynamite as Captain America. Lil Wayne could be Nick Fury and Rebel Wilson as Black Widow.

      • Oliver Queen

AHAHAHAHAHA Lil Wayne as Fury, that’s gold. “Was up mother f*ckers, i;m here to talk to you bout the mother f”cking avengers initiative, lil bitches!!!” LOL

“There is more to life than that.”

Movies are a visual medium, good looking people have been cast in roles since the beginning of film. People just like looking at nice looking things.

It’s like saying it’s not fair that short guys don’t get to play in the NBA.

Duh it’s a superhero movie. If you have read any comic book you would notice that all superheroes and heroines are good looking some better than their movie counterparts. Another reason Hollywood cast people with good looks is to mainly lure the mainstream crowd

  • Vulcan

I read the Ultron dialogue in my head in James Spader’s voice. It is was awesome.

  • DEADP00L

So it’s essentially Batman’s OMEGA crisis story arch only it’s Tony Stark and the Avengers instead of Batman and the Justice League.

    • LEM

DC just added the OMEGA crisis arch and 20 other characters to Batman V Superman.

      • DEADP00L

Please tell me thats a lie…

I would be more impressed if Tony created ultron to assist the civil war storyline.

    • R0yBatty

Perhaps after Avengers 3 and the Infinity War, my friend.

    • Kyle Chandler

It could be cool, but I don’t know if I see it happening. Marvel doesn’t own the rights to enough of the movie characters to make it worthwhile for the civil war storyline. They can’t even use the word mutant. Also, within the MCU, they’ve kind of done away with “secret identities”, which means the catalyst for the civil war might not make a lot of sense.
