Just like clockwork, EW.com has released new images and set photos from The Avengers following the poorly photo-shopped cover-shot they posted earlier this morning. The images provide better looks at the superhero costumes for Captain America (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) as well as Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) firing two guns at once because that’s how the pros do it.
Hit the jump to check out the images. The film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Cobie Smulders, Clark Gregg, and Samuel L. Jackson. The Avengers opens in 3D on May 4, 2012. [Update: Perhaps in an attempt to show that the heads weren't photoshopped onto bodies for their cover, EW has added more images showing the individual head shots for every character. I now believe they weren't photoshopped; just horribly lit. Check out the head shots after the jump.]

Of note:
1) Some of the street action scenes look to have been filmed while they were on-set in New Mexico (so the spy footage from Cleveland can only tell you so much).
2) While Hawkeye is shooting left-handed in this photo, he could still be ambidexterous in this movie.
3) Filmed from the proper angle, Evans looks pretty big as Cap.
4) The Cap/Stark photo looks more as if it were filmed at Project Pegasus than the helicarrier.
5) Sales of the Black Sabbath t-shirt worn by “Stark” will likely spike-up after this movie has its opening weekend. In fact, many fans may even opt to wear that shirt on premiere night.
It seems that Hawkeye and Black Widow were meant to be substitutes for Ant-Man and Wasp all along.
Wohoo!! Scarlett Johansson looks like a strong, empowered and sexy Black Widow. Hahah.. freakin’ fantastic, can’t wait! Man! I feel like a woman!
Am I the only one that really isnt digging the new Captain America costume? I much prefer the original…
When you say “original” do you mean the costume from the “first avenger”?
If so I completely agree I do not like this padded suit at all. It looks like the 80′s had a major influence on the design with all the shoulder pads!
I can get over how dumb Scarlett looks shooting the guns. She is awesome but I hope this shot is not used in the movies. Anyone who knows anything about weapons or shooting guns knows how ridiculous she looks. This is a total nitpick but I am not buying her as the black widow right now..
For one her stance is retarded. Two guns blasting and her stance looks like she is playing DUCK HUNT rather than “believeably” firing two guns…
Second her blank expression.. Really this is the worst part of the whole photo. Two guns firing and no expression..nothing… I dare anyone to fire 1 gun and keep the expression she has..
I hate to nitpick but I am not liking much of what I see so far. I may ignore anything new regarding this because its not looking good.. Between this and TDKR I feel we know waaaay too much
I am super pumped for the movie, that much is certain. So far, its just Cap’s costume that is throwing me off. Its too flashy it seems like. I was really surprised how much I liked The First Avenger. Really well done film. I just wish they would keep the original costume for him. It was much more subtle and seemed like a practical battle ready suit. This one…I just dont agree with…
Nah, He likes the one he wore when he was kicking Hilter’s ass on stage.
Scarlett Johansson is really gorgeous and very talented. It’ll be an exceptional performance, just wonderful.
Hahaha! Did you actually copy and paste that from your response concerning Emma Roberts yesterday? I don’t know why, but I can’t stop laughing. And I’m not kidding, that is seriously a weird thing to do.
Oh, I see that SenatorWhoopass has already pointed that out below. Still tickles my funnybone to an absurd degree.
Maybe it’s the wording, because I laughed yesterday too.
“It’ll be an exceptional performance, just wonderful.”
HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
While I can ignore them easily enough, are these people with the fake names that repeat themselves in every article publicists or something? I find it all quite funny.
And what’s with the guy who cuts and pastes list of obscure villains from wikipedia that they hope to see in sequels? Is it a delusional fan? Spambot? Unpaid Marvel intern?
is your first experience of meeting spambots, guys?
In that bottom photo, Captain America actually looks big from that angle.
I guess it’s the suit, in part, that made him look that much smaller.
I wanna see a real freakin trailer.
I agree 100% Im still not sold on the new Cap suit. I was a huge fan of what they did with the first avenger suit. The muted colors and more practical design while keeping faithful to the comics was awesome. The new suit is way to bright and the fabric kinda looks like scraps thrown together. Also I hope with the cap sequel they go back to it being set in WW2. I think if its done right they could have a story line set in the middle of the first film where he’s after another baddie that works for red skull. Just my thoughts. I have a hard time liking the idea of cap in modern times. I dig the Indiana Jones type feel to it better.
Everyone keeps complaining about the brightness of the suit, the texture, and the impracticality of it. To me, that suit looks like it is supposed to be Kevlar-reinforced. I can imagine the Capt. getting his suit and it being completely foreign to him. He’s supposed to be the outsider in this flick. Also, anybody think that the Capt.’s suit is so bright as to make him stand-out from the others? To make him the new “face” of S.H.I.E.L.D.? The only reason he had a suit in the first film was because he was the face of the armed forces, remember?
Is it just me or is Mark Ruffalo making a Zoolander face?
Yeah, he seems to be trying for a Hulk/New Kids on the Block thing. Do not want. Just do like in the animated tv show, where he Hulks out once then stuffs Banner down so deep that he never gets out again.
Not great but still a good magazine cover.
Awesome set photos.
I hope The Avengers turns out to better than I expected it.
Thor, X-Men: First Class and Captain America: The First Avenger are my favourite comic book movies of the year.
Keep the good work, Marvel.
Scarlett looks so detached in that shot of her firing the two guns…it’s just weird.
It’s because she can’t act
lmao yeeeeeess
Scarlett J’s super power needs to be ‘Eating Less’…
I miss Edward Norton so badly right now. He IS Bruce Banner!
lol at Mark Ruffalo’s Blue Steel pose
That’s not horrible lighting, it’s just cross lighting. What on earth is all the fuss about the headshots for? They look fine! I’m glad they’re not lit flatly!
Mark Ruffalo never comes across as threatening in his characters but that pix of him is effing menacing. Kudos Mark. Scarlett? Well, um please! She is miscast. She has never shown a bit of physical prowess except moving ‘THE TWINS” from one scene to the next.
Thanks for some other informative site. The place else may I am getting that kind of information written in such an ideal way? I’ve a undertaking that I’m simply now operating on, and I have been on the look out for such info.
