The Avengers held its premiere in Los Angeles last night, and movie bloggers were in attendance.  Full reviews are embargoed (although probably not for long), but tweeting was A-OK, and so a flood of tweets were unleashed.  Besides, who wants to read a full review when you can get the opinion in 140 characters or less!

Hit the jump to read the positive things movie bloggers had to say about the movie. The rest of us will get to see The Avengers on May 4th.

Also, here’s what Edgar Wright, Seth Green, and Damon Lindelof had to say about the flick:

And thanks to Disney, here’s almost 100 pictures from the premiere:

So, not only is the movie awesome, but The Hulk is specifically awesome as well? All my other friends bitched about Mark Ruffalo as opposed to Ed Norton (personally, I could care less) getting cast for Hulk. This is beginning to get interesting. Between this and TDKR, if 2012 is in fact the year the world will end, I’m sure I’ll die a happy man :)

  • Caleb The Awesome

    Very encouraging. Can’t wait!

  • James

I’m even more excited to see it now. Can’t wait!

  • Deepak

Yeah now I’m even more curious to see what Ruffalo does with the Hulk, especially since he’s the first to actually provide mo-cap for it. I loved Bana in Ang Lee’s Hulk (I loved that movie in general), and Norton did a decent job in the other one (a decent movie overall), but this just ramped up my anticipation for the Avengers exponentially. Can’t wait!

    • Pragmator

Did you know that Ang Lee actually did the motion capture for the Hulk in his version? Fascinating, but true!

  • Reggie

Very good news indeed. For someone like myself who is and has always been a huge fan of the Hulk hopefully this will result in another crack at the Jade Giant on the big screen as a solo act. Hell let Joss do it since he obviously gets the character.

  • Eve

Wonder if there will be fanboys still wailing over Norton’s departure after they watch this.

Seriously, one of the most annoying things was seeing criticizing the actor (Ruffalo) who, OH NOES!, had “stolen” the role from Norton (a well known control freak — his brawl with Marvel executives wasn’t over money, people, his publicists were flat out lying).

Hmm…I’m kind of worried. It seems like everyone is liking it for what it is, a fun action movie. It’s not amazing on a Dark Knight level. Know what I mean?

    • pj_campbell

No, I don’t know what you mean. It doesn’t have to be anything like The Dark Knight at all. The Dark Knight is completely different kind of comic book movie. The Marvel films are awesome popcorn style fun, where as The Dark Knight is a much more serious take on the comic books in general. There’s no reason The Avengers would have to be like that way. And the general thought seems to be the movie is pretty damn good and fun. That’s exactly how it should be. It doesn’t have to be like The Dark Knight to be good. It seems it’s completely amazing in a different way.

      • junierizzle

After years of build up, all those characters in ONE movie, I’d expect a little more than “yeah, it was fun.”

    • luke

      EXACTLY.

People saying its the best marvel movie and has to most action are really just admitting how lackluster previous movies were.

And yet for some reason everyone thinks Iron Man was as good as Batman Begins. Iron Monger better than Raz al Ghul and Scarecrow? No way!

I don’t know how Marvel manages to fool people each time by saying every new movie is their best.

Everyone’s satisfied with Avengers being a fun popcorn movie, well then the same people shouldn’t be criticizing Transformers or John Carter.

      • junierizzle

        Yeah, that’s what I meant.

      • james

Seriously? You’re grouping this with Transformers and the like? Those movies are absolutely mindless, lacking any character development whatsoever and with terrible attempts at comedy. The only purpose they server is to put cgi action sequences on the big screen. I have faith that Joss made something far superior to those movies.

  • sense 11

    I am excited

  • dan

so funny how people have completely different standards when it comes to marvel movies

  • Blob

Wow! Hand-picked positive quotes for a media-only screening! Sure sounds like unbiased, unmotivated commentary to me!!

Seriously, this is the media-machine we live in, and I doubt we’ll get any real reactions until the general public starts to trickle in. I wish, wish, WISH that Collider wouldn’t play this silly game as I know they are better than this, but them’s the rules.

btw: having your “Frosty” editor rave about anything is about as difficult as having a puppy ‘rave’ about a chewtoy. It’s expected at this point for access.

    • junierizzle

I agree. I generally like Frosty and his interview stuff but dude LOVES everything.

  • jarvis3205

    Fantastic early applause.

    Hope it holds up.

On the note of the better Hulk…its Ruffalo…& that’s just on sight unseen.

The guy’s got chops & he looks the “Banner/Bill Bixby” part.

    Cant wait.

  • David

LOL Who is the amazon next to Seth Green? Wait a minute…WTF is Seth Green doing there????

    • Batfan

That’s his wife Clare Grant…but yeah, HOLY CRAP at the two of them next to each other lmao. The sex has to be so much fun for him

    • mattinacan

Seth Green appeared in Whedon’s Buffy series and is a friend, so of course he is there.

  • Farzan

So what I’m getting from all this is that the movie is big, loud, dumb and fun……..eh I guess that’s alright, but I kinda have Battleship to fill that void. Was expecting The Avengers to deliver much more considering the insane amount of build up for these characters and the hype.

  • Dan

Can’t believe there’s a random picture of Soundgarden and Chris Cornell at the premiere!

Most of these positive comments are less than what I was hoping for, which was a ton of “BEST MOVIE EVER!” ‘s

    • junierizzle

Soundgarden has a new song on the soundtrack.

  • Ur mom

Tom is so beautiful!! So psyched for this movie, my bro is gonna have the best B-Day of his life!! >:D

  • Mitt Romney

Sure, this will probably make alot of money, but it probably be so-so…

  • Romsy

I love how the 3 actors from Thor in the group photo are like a foot taller than everybody else, haha.

  • Joe

Why is it that Joss could’t afford to wear a properly cut suit, properly tied necktie and proper shoes? He looks a little ridiculous. He might as well just have worn a t-shirt with his jeans.

Oh btw, where is the obligatory Kardashian slut pic?

  • Jack

Can’t wait to see the Justice League movie. lmao. that will never happen. Green Lantern sucked major std alien cock. All you batman fan boys bring it dwn a notch. Its Avengers time to shine!

  • Migzter13

WAH!! April 25 is A day for us here!
Can’t effing wait for this one!XD

  • Stan Cantrelle

I was at the premier last night and was absolutely thrilled at what an amazing film this was. Finally… someone managed to let the HULK really cut loose. The dialogue was a little heavy handed during the second act. But The final act AND the closing “bonus” scene made this whole movie completely satisfying. What a blast!

  • Jeff

Wait a minute… was that picture of Richard Grieco on the red carpet or were my eyes deceiving me?????

    • Ashley

It is Richard Grieco. Sadly, he is one of the few people I recognized (aside from the Avengers cast).

  • Wtfmann

Just the premiere pics for this film look awesome.. Really hope this gives Whedon the clout to pursue whatever project he wants in Hollywood from now on. Can’t wait to see it!
