At this point, you’re probably aware that The Avengers is currently filming on location in Cleveland, as we’ve already posted two other stories featuring photos from the set. Today’s batch of images and videos is pretty damn spoilery, as they reveal what The Avengers will be up against in the film. If you’re staying spoiler-free, I’d advise you not to click ahead. However, if you’re so inclined, the images are included after the jump.

The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson. The Avengers opens in 3D on May 4, 2012.

This is your last chance to turn back if you don’t want to see set photos containing some SPOILERS from The Avengers.

Still with me? Alright, these set photos show Chris Evans as Captain America facing off against some guys outfitted with CG-suits. What might these CG-suited men be turned into during post-production on the film, you may ask? Well, the set photos also reveal some type of alien weaponry that they’re using, so it’s probably safe to assume that those rumors about the Kree and Skrulls will be the villains of the film. We previously reported on the rumored involvement of the two extraterrestrial beings’ inclusion in the film, and it looks like they’re probably the baddies after all.

Here are the set photos and videos courtesy of Twitter user Discordia77 (via CBM and CelebBuzz):

the-avengers-teaser-posterHere’s The Avengers production announcement which features the relevant cast/plot info:

Robert Downey, Jr. (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2″) returns as the iconic Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) as Thor, Chris Evans (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Captain America, Jeremy Renner (“Thor,” “The Hurt Locker”) as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo (“The Kids Are Alright”) as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson (“Iron Man 2″) as Black Widow, Clark Gregg (“Iron Man,” “Thor”) as Agent Phil Coulson, and Samuel L. Jackson (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2″) as Nick Fury.  Set for release in the US on May 4, 2012, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the first feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009.

Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Marvel’s The Avengers” brings together the mightiest super hero characters as they all assemble together on screen for the first time. The star studded cast of super heroes will be joined by Cobie Smulders (“How I Met Your Mother) as Agent Maria Hill of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as Tom Hiddleston (“Wallander”) and Stellan Skarsgård (“Angels & Demons,” “Mamma Mia!”) who will both reprise their respective roles as Loki and Professor Erik Selvig from the upcoming Marvel Studios’ feature “Thor.”

I much prefer the WWII Cap suit. At least that one was somewhat practical-looking for a soldier. This suit just looks cartoony.

These photos just aren’t a good representation of how the suit will look on film. Cell phone cameras normally make images look extra sharp… effectively eliminating some of the shadows, reflections and other details that make certain materials look good. Beyond that, these shots haven’t been taken at an angle which males the character look good. All that is to say that these are good spoilers, but we don’t yet have anything on which to make a true assessment of how Cap will look once this movie gets to theaters.

After watching these shooting picture, How they will have shooting. I was just imagined that. But Compared to Batman images, Spiderman images are too attractive.

When you do that with movies like Robert Downey Jr. said about The Dark Knight and Inception, and when you do things like that about a man like Christopher Nolan – I’ve kept really quiet, but I’ll tell you something, he went down in my estimation when he said that – we have not resorted to that. But I’ll tell you – we’re still fighting for box office supremacy, and The Avengers has to compete with The Dark Knight Rises next year and get something, and I tell you honestly, I will love it if The Dark Knight Rises outgrosses The Avengers, I will love it if we beat them, love it!

His modern costume is much more sleeker than the 40′s version but I kinda like the former better. And judging by those CG outfits… it’s easy to think that they are battling the Skrulls in this one.

    *Masterbates violently* Caps is HAWT!

Looks nice. when can we expect to see Spiderman fighting besides the Avengers ?

  9. Tyler @

Looks good! Can’t wait. And yeah he looks amazing!! Wow.

Love the new costume. I’m glad we are starting to get into more comic book-esque looking costumes (X-men First Class, Caps modern costume here). Screw being real…it’s a comic book movie, have some fun with the outfits for Christ’s sake.

That’s a stunt double without the cap. Cap is fighting two opponents (dotted costumes for CG capture). Alien-looking weapon. Cap defeats (?) enemies, holds weapon.
