This is the true story of seven superheroes, picked to live in a Helicarrier, to work together and have their actions monitored, to find out what happens when supervillains stop being polite, and heroes start avenging…The Avengers!  If you haven’t heard about this movie by now, there’s not much more we can do for you.  In addition to all of the TV spots, trailers, clips, images, posters and interviews we’ve posted, Marvel has been building to this point since the release of the original Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) in 2008.  Since then, agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have also recruited Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) to accompany their own Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) against the villainy of Loki (Tom Hiddleston).  This new making-of-The-Avengers featurette will provide a retrospective look at how we got to where we are today.  Also, a new IMAX TV spot does its best to convince you to see the epic assemblage in IMAX 3D.  Hit the jump to check them out.  The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon and also starring Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders and Clark Gregg, debuts May 4th.

Check out the IMAX TV spot and the making-of featurette after the official synopsis for The Avengers:

Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”–the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. Prepare yourself for an exciting event movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects, when “Marvel’s The Avengers” assemble in summer 2012. In “Marvel’s The Avengers,” superheroes team up to pull the world back from the brink of disaster when an unexpected enemy threatens global security.

    Avengers? Yeesssss. Norton? Noooooooo.

LMAO, yeah first thing to do when troubleshooting any machine: remove Norton. It f@#ks up everything it touches.

  • excpired

Norton bad? You guys are on crack. He made Hulk semi-entertaining, the movie was good until it went into Hulk Smash mode and we sat through 40 minutes of hulk smashing.

I think you have the wrong Norton. The above posters are mocking Norton Utilities who sponsored the spot. :) Maybe a poor choice of sponsor given the Edward Norton mini-controversey.

Norton was awful – and smashing is fun

As Americans have to wait to watch Avengers it has been released in many countries including India and I would say it is awesome Marvel movie although it is not best but as par as Iron Man may be bit lesser. In this movie Hulk really enjoys being Hulk and Hulk should be like that.
And humors are thrown from everywhere in this movie its fun movie.
    A summer popcorn entertainment.
