Next week, the Academy will announce the Oscar nominations, but today we have the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) handing out their nods.  Gravity led the pack with 11 nominations including Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Best Director (Alfonso Cuaron), and Best Actress (Sandra Bullock).  Close behind were 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle, which also picked up Best Film nominations.  Additionally, American Hustle was nominated in all of the acting categories with Christian Bale for Best Actor, Amy Adams for Best Actress, Bradley Cooper for Best Supporting Actor, and Jennifer Lawrence for Best Supporting Actress.  Additionally, because Behind the Candelabra was a theatrical release in the U.K., it earned five nominations including Best Supporting Actor (Matt Damon) and Best Adapted Screenplay.  Finally, the Best Director nominees lined up perfectly with yesterday’s DGA nominations.

Hit the jump for the full list of nominees.  The winners will be announced at the EE British Academy Film Awards on Sunday, February 16th.

Hat tip to CS for organizing and formatting the list of nominees.

What about Mathew Mccounaghey!!! Dallas Buyers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Person

Might not have gotten released in Britain, so they couldn’t consider it. Even in the States it got a pretty small release, that’s why I haven’t seen it yet.

    • Brennan Umsted

Both DBC and Her haven’t been released in the UK yet

      • Derek Johns

Thank you for clearing that up because it really wasn’t making sense to me that it got completely shut out

  • pickaname

It’s a shame prisoners is completely shut out; it seems like Jake Gyllenhaal’s performance won’t be recognized by these award ceremonies and will remain in the “criminally underrated” category for years to come.

  • Person

Someone explain to me how The Hobbit got a VFX nomination when the entire movie looked like an iPhone game…

But overall nominations look like what was expected. I’d expect 12 Years a Slave to clean up the major awards and Gravity will take care of the technical ones. BAFTAs have a habit of giving the awards mostly to British films, and two of the three biggest ones this year are British. Hustle will likely get shut out unless Lawrence wins.

So… Nothing for before midnight ?
Not even best actress or best adapted screenplay ?

  • Mixed Race rich kid NYC

Nebraska is the best movie of the year
I blame paramount for burying the movie, refusing to take it to more 245 theaters
Because of it, the movie is not being nominated anywhere

June Squibb should have being nominated for best supporting actress, for the very least

    American hustle is so overrated
I don’t understand the praise for it, especially bale performance
All he did was a bad deniro impression

  • Bob

Well, Im pretty sure the Oscars will be…

    Gravity
    Captain Phillips
    The Wolf of Wall Street
    American Hustle

Last Nominee if they Go 10

    Inside Llewyn Davis

    Possible but not likely

    Blue Jasmine
    Fruitvale Station
    Lee Daniel’s The Butler
    Philomena

    Chiwetel Ejiofor – 12 Years a Slave
Matthew McConaughey – Dallas Buyers Club
Leonardo DiCaprio – The Wolf of Wall Street
    Tom Hanks – Captain Phillips
    Bruce Dern – Nebraska

Runner up and serious threat that could enter the top 5

    Christian Bale – American Hustle

    Best Actress

    Cate Blanchett – Blue Jasmine
    Emma Thomphson – Saving Mr.Banks
Meryl Streep – August: Osage County
    Sandra Bullock – Gravity

Runner up and serious threat that could enter the top 5

    Judi Dench – Philomena

  • Sally

There is something seriously wrong with these award organizations!!! Amy Adams and Sandra Bullock are nominated in lead actress but not Meryl Streep!!!! Amy’s british accent sucked. Where are nominations for Prisoners and Matthew Mccounaghey for Dallas Buyers Club!!!!!!!!!

    • Adnan Ahmed

Honestly, these things are all so subjective & all this crying foul happens every single year…where is this, where is that? I mean no offense, but even if their were 20 eligible spots for each category, people would still be complaining about someone who was not included.

      • Sally

Srsly..but Amy over Meryl???? (rolling eyes)

  • Diana

WTF!!!!!! Julia is nominated for August….!!!! Where’s Meryl?

  • Julio Navas

Will Poulter por ¨We´re The Millers¨? WTF is wrong with BAFTA?
