Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released an extended gameplay trailer for Rocksteady’s upcoming conclusion to the Batman: Arkham trilogy, Batman: Arkham Knight.  The fourth main game in the Batman: Arkham series, Arkham Knight takes place one year after the events of Batman: Arkham City and finds the titular superhero squaring off against Scarecrow, who has united Batman’s enemies in a plot to finally kill The Bat.  This new trailer shows the Batmobile in action, and while it’s got some cool moves, and shows Batman willing to run over the city he’s sworn to protect, I don’t understand using a car when his ability to fly would presumably get you across Gotham City so much faster.

Hit the jump to check out the new Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile trailer.  The game is due out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2015.

Here’s the official synopsis for Batman: Arkham Knight:

In the explosive finale to the Arkham series, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. The Scarecrow returns to unite an impressive roster of super villains, including Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, to destroy The Dark Knight forever. Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady’s uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which is drivable for the first time in the franchise. The addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the Batman Arkham series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City.

The batmobile is meant as a weapon more than it is as a means to traverse the city? Maybe that’s the point?

I bet most stuff you destroy will respawn after a while, and they’ll chalk it up to Bruce Wayne covering the cost of damages or something.

    Batman: “I don’t use guns”
    Person: “But…your tank does.”
    Batman: “Quiet you.”

Game looks cool but why does scarecrow sound like Micheal fassbender

He sounds more like Michael Ironside (voice of Darkseid) to me.

      Sounds like John DiMaggio.

More importantly, how can he say “oblivion” with no lips?

Edit: It’s John Noble of ‘Fringe’ fame. AKA Denethor in LotR.

Isn’t stopping the greater threat more important than some landscape damage?

Guys, guys…let’s give Matt a break. He only writes about video games for one week out of the year.

Goldberg, did you have the same nitpick with any of Nolan’s films where Batman drove over/through city/private property in pursuit or escape? If not, then your point is moot. Also, remember, this is a video game. It’s not real. So real life nitpicks about a non-existent world are silly and won’t get you taken seriously.

    That’s pretty amazing.

Damn, that game looks beautiful!! Perfect Batman, Perfect Gotham, Perfect Batmobile, this is what the movies should looked like. (script is a little hammy though) wish i had a ps4.
Star Wars Battlefront 3 looks like its gonna be incredible too.

    He’s Iron (Bat)man now?

Yes, why would fans of Batman be even mildly interested in wanting to drive the batmobile? What possible gains are there to be had by introducing the most iconic and fantasised vehicle in all of comics and, maybe, literature into this universe?

Also, why would you want to explore this open, expansive and downright ridiculous cityscape so thoroughly? Just glide everywhere. Its quicker. Don’t immerse yourself into the world, its nooks and crannies. And certainly don’t do it in the aforementioned iconic vehicle of the hero.

    Classic Goldberg.
