When Collider’s own Steve Weintraub visited the set of Justice League back in June, we got confirmation from producer Deborah Snyder that Steppenwolf would be the main villain in the film. Now it looks like he won’t be the only bad guy in the movie. Today, Ben Affleck tweeted a video out revealing Deathstroke might be making an appearance in Justice League, which was then followed by a report from The Wrap stating the villain would be the main antagonist in Affleck’s stand alone Batman movie.

It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report brought to you by our friends at AMC Theatres. Don't Breathe scared off the weekend’s competition taking in $26.1 million for the No 1 spot in its first weekend of release. Suicide Squad finally relinquished the top spot, taking in $12.1 million for No 2, bringing its world wide total to $636 million. Kubo and the two Strings took the No 3 spot with $7.9 million while Sausage Party took in $7.6 million for the No 4 spot. And at No 5, Mechanic: Resurrection snagged $7.5 million on its opening weekend debut.

Captain America 3 wasn’t always going to be Civil War. Joe and Anthony Russo wanted to do the popular story inspired by the popular comic, but it was contingent on getting Robert Downey Jr. to sign on for the Marvel film. Since Marvel was going to make a third Captain America regardless of Downey, the Russo’s were left to brainstorm ideas for what Cap should face in his next solo picture, and what they came up with was essentially a zombie film. Speaking to EW about the original ending of the movie, the Russos explained they were interested in using the Madbomb from Cap mythology.

At Comic-Con this past July, fans were raving about a video that was shown during the Thor panel that revealed what Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder was up to during the events of Captain America: Civil War. The video, directed by Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi, has now made it online in its entirety. “Team Thor” is available as a bonus feature on the upcoming Captain America: Civil War Blu-ray.

Deadline reports that Sam Mendes is in early talks to develop and direct a live-action adaptation of James and the Giant Peach with Brooklyn and High Fidelity scribe Nick Hornby attached to write the screenplay. The report notes that Mendes is in “very early” negotiations. The story follows James, a young orphan who lives with his cruel, abusive aunts until a magical gift transforms an ordinary peach into a giant vessel for extraordinary adventure. A release date for the adaptation has not been set.

Taking to his Facebook page, Beauty and the Beast co-producer Jack Morrissey has revealed some early images from the live-action update to the Disney cartoon classic. While we didn’t get a glimpse of Emma Watson as Belle or Dan Stevens in Beast mode, we did get concept art of Lumière and Cogsworth along with a screen grab showing how closely the production is staying with its source material. The live-action Beauty and the Beast hits theatres on March 17, 2017.

According to a report from Variety, Denzel Washington is eyeing the lead role in Dan Gilroy’s legal drama Inner City, which is being envisioned as a character study akin to Sidney Lumet’s 1982 film The Verdict. If Washington signs on, he’d play a lawyer who is dealing with a major change at his company. Variety mentions that the project is garnering serious interest from studios looking for something “different” after a summer movie season full of sequels and reboots failed to connect at the box office. A release date has not yet been targeted.

Variety is reporting that The People Vs OJ Simpson’s Sarah Paulson is in early talks to join the female-led Ocean’s Eleven spin-off Ocean’s Eight from Hunger Games director Gary Ross. If the deal goes through, Paulson would be the 8th woman to join alongside Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina. Ocean’s Eight is scheduled to kick off production this October in New York.

Sarah Maloney writes:

Hey Collider from Scotland!

I just watched 2005's 'Stay' starring Ryan Gosling, Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts and having seen a 27% Rotten Tomatoes score with a box office result of $8 million to its $50 million budget I was prepared for the worst... But I really enjoyed it! My question is: what movies do you enjoy that had big name talent, but that BOMBED at release?

Love everything you do so keep up that amazing work!

Sarah.
