What caused the fight between Batman and Superman? Was it Batfleck sleeping with Clark’s mom in Hollywoodland? No. It was Bridget Jones. It’s hard to imagine the Snyderverse of DC films being any lighter than they already are (#sarcasm), but Jimmy Kimmel did it in mashing together Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Bridget Jones’s Baby.

Kimmel’s parody merges the trailers of both films to create a new cinematic reality in which Renee Zellweger’s rom-com character getting pregnant after a roll in the hay with the billionaire of Gotham City, Bruce Wayne. At least, she thinks it’s Bruce’s because, as is the kicker at the end, Bruce’s smirk reveals she three-way sexed the Dark Knight and Man of Steel. I guess the only sure what to know the paternity is if her future kid is all of sudden able to fling a piano at one of Luthor’s henchmen while trapped on a ship.

Batman v Superman, which also see a setup for the impending Justice League movie, hit theaters last weekend and broke a number of box-office records along the way, one of which is the biggest Friday-to-Sunday drop from a superhero movie. Jesse Eisenberg (Luthor), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ezra Miller (The Flash), and Ray Fisher (Cyborg) debuted their respective characters.

March also saw the return of Bridget Jones in the first trailer for the third film involving the character. Zellweger last appeared in the franchise in Bridget Jones: The End of Reason in 2004, and she’ll return once again in the next sequel this coming September 16th. This time she’ll find herself pregnant and unsure of the baby daddy’s identity, since she hooked up with Patrick Dempsey’s Jack after breaking up with Colin Firth’s Mark Darcy.
