Zack Snyder Teases BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN’s New Batmobile

With production on Batman vs. Superman about to ramp up, the official marketing is about to begin.  On his twitter feed, director Zack Snyder provided a little peek at the new Batmobile…and it looks a lot of like the old Batmobile.  It’s the form-follows-function, military-style, run-over-anything-and-everything-in-Gotham Batmobile, which is fine.  Snyder is following the “realistic” model, so we’re probably going to get a Batmobile that’s similar to what we saw in The Dark Knight trilogy.  While I find the pre-marketing here kind of obnoxious (either show us the Batmobile or don’t), it’s an encouraging sign that the production will take the initiative on reveals and let us see official images before they leak out through set photos.

Hit the jump to check out a peek of the Batman vs. Superman Batmobile; Snyder hints that the full image will be released tomorrow.  The film stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Jesse Eisenberg, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Ray Fisher, and Laurence Fishburne.

Nooo it’s much longer than Tumbler. It’s hard to tell, but it looks okay.

  • Joseph M

Yeah, but Ben Affleck’s driving it.

  • http://tarek-to-verso.over-blog.com/ tarek

it looks like a lovechild of Burton’s batmobile and Nolan batmobile

    • MCP

Exactly what I thought when I first saw the pic. Military in style but long and sleek like Burton’s err….

  • God’s Diamond

More interested in the batsuit. And the bat symbol. The one they used at comic on is garbage

    • The Flobbit

More interested in whether Affleck is going to suck so bad it’s legendary, or suck so bad it’s painful…

I have faith in the rest of the cast, however. Eisenberg, Irons, Cavill, and Gadot should add some pedigree.

  • YodaRocks

Doesn’t look promising. DK’s Tumbler gave an aura of something formidable (like a tank) that’ll run you over. This looks like a bloated F1 car.

  • Adam Collins

It looks like a tactical version of the Batman Forever take. But, I think judging a Batman film on the teased look of the Batmobile is not exactly fair.

    • http://collider.com Matt Goldberg

I hope so. I really miss the days of Batman putting his logo on everything. It’s like a kid at summer camp who wants to make sure no one touches his stuff.

      • http://www.JustPressPlay.net Lex Walker

In gruff Batman voice: “You know I licked that right? It’s mine.”

      • Grayden

Except it’s nothing like summer camp where everyone’s shit all looks the same and punk-ass kids steal someone’s iPod. Everyone knows who the hell Batman is. It’s as if the denizens of Gotham are too stupid to figure at least THAT MUCH out. Toys can have as much logo branding on them as needed, but for a film, the Batmobile serves a practical function. It’s not the fucking Weinermobile.

      • Cody

You right. There’s nothing more practical than dressing up like a bat and engaging in fisticuffs with a clown. :-)

      • Grayden

        There really isn’t, actually.

      • Batt Damon

If he can put that much time and effort into making baterangs and lighting a giant batsymbol on the side of a building he can put a batlogo on his batmobile

    • 80sRobot

This Batmobile looks like it could have six wheels. I am picturing a Nolan-ized version of this:

    It’s a Tamiya! :D

  • MetalGearSnake

    LOL ! It’s the Tumbler Convertible.Batman goin cruisin !

  • http://www.collider.com/ DNAsplitter

I hate these type of teasers. At least it’s a positive sign that filming is about to start as they are deep into pre-production. The wheels remind me of the tumbler but the body looks like Batman Forever. God I hope there’s no neon lights on it. I hope they release a pic of Batman standing next to the Batmobile as the 1st official image. It would send the comic book world into a frenzy!

  • Unique Jenique

    Dat ass.

  • DeathoftheEndless7

    Looks like the Arkham Knight-mobile.

  • MIXTER

Impossible to tell, but as Tarek said, looks like a cross between the Burton/Tumbler, which is actually the PERFECT mix!

Also, a bit like the Arkham games one. I cant wait to see the rest of it!

    • mbmarquis69

The films would do well to borrow liberally from the Arkham game series. Tech, Gotham, villains, everything.

  • Supes Made It Okay

It won’t be called the Tumbler. It’ll be called the Decapitator. Now that it’s heroic to kill, blades will extend from the Batmobile’s roof, and Bats can just lop the heads off criminals as he drives past them. Saves time AND helps keep the already overburdened judicial system from being overwhelmed.

    • Cody

Makes sense to me, but I think it will be called the Machine-Gun-ator, because Batman totally never swore off guns. That’s not in the comic. Just like Superman never killing isn’t in the comic. David Goyer is really good at reading comics, so he’ll tell you.

    • blkyank

It was heroic for Batman to kill in the 1989 film.Hell he used a bomb in the Batmobile to kill a dozen of the Jokers men at AXIS chemicals and rockets and guns on the Batwing to kill a dozen more at the festival.Thats not even including killing the Joker, yet nerds were able to accept that it was a movie version of Batman and things could be a little different which is a far thing from todays nerds who can’t seem to get over Superman killing to save a helpless family.

Ine last thing,if it only became “heroic” to kill in MOS what does that say for the GI’s in Saving Private Ryan and the real veterans of D-Day they were depicting? Maybe they could have asked the Germans to leave France.

      • Um, Sure

Good point about the 1989 movie. Funny how selective some people are about Batman’s history with killing.

      • Batt Damon

Batman ’89 sucked ass. Batman killing people is the least of that movies problems.

  • Angel of Death
  • Eddie Gonzalez

looks like the batman forever version

  • Nathan Ellis Miller

I’m intrigued. It’s definitely got the comic book look while keeping a grounded vibe.

  • Bob

Who cares how cool the Batmobile is when you have Ben Affleck in the drivers seat?

  • Dmula

Looks like cross between the traditional one and Nolan’s,I’m with it

  • STAR-LORD #ROUGE SQUAD

Not what I expected but still good choice! Fused the old and new. I always thought Snyder was the guy to do a Batman movie. He won’t hold back on putting the real Batman on screen even if it’s Afflack behind the mask lmao. Like it really matters it’s a comicbook movie just watch it and complain after it’s over.

  • vpuik

I can’t wait for the new Batman movie!

  • evinrude

It’s real phallic from that angle. It’s like the Ambiguously Gay Duo should be riding in it.

  • MJ

Not really liking it. I much prefer Nolan’s “reality take” on Batman to this.

I am not expecting much from this movie. I think it will be better than the ASM crap, but not close to the Nolan films. Perhaps about the quality of a typical Thor film.

I still don’t get why they couldn’t just bring in Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the new Batman. It was all set up so perfectly, but now we get this dumb-ass partial reboot with the male half of Bennifer?

This movie should have also given them a chance to replace Superman and bring back Brandon Routh, instead of that morose forgettable guy who played the part in MOS…see, I can’t even remember his name?

    • Strong Enough

you can’t even see it. how do you not like it?

      • MJ

I’ve seen MOS and Snyder’s other work, and my response to that has been largely:

        Meh

      • Strong Enough

yeah but you said you don’t like it yet you can’t even see the fucking thing lmao

      • MJ

Apparently you didn’t read my actual post. I said:

“Not really liking it” (the batmobile) and

“I am not expecting much from this movie.”

You seem to think I am claiming that I have already seen the movie and don’t like it??? Huh???

      • Um, Sure

He’s referring to the Batmobile. It’s mostly covered.

So maybe you should say “what little I can see, I don’t like, but I haven’t seen the whole thing yet so I really can’t say.”

But then this wouldn’t be the Internet.

And a Joseph Gordon-Levitt Batman? *eyeroll*

      • MJ

“And a Joseph Gordon-Levitt Batman? *eyeroll*”

So you are telling me with a straight face that Bennifer is a better choice? Really?

      • Strong Enough

No the batmoblie is covered so how did you know if you liked it or not dickhead. you can’t see shit.

      • MJ

I can see the entire rear of the batmobile, Einstein. And now today, we see the piss-poor batman costume — which confirms my opinions further.

And exsuse me, but I guess I must have missed the memo in which you were named head of the thought police here?

      • Strong Enough

So rear is the WHOLE thing? YEah right. time to take to you to jail. don’t drop the soap or else!

      • MJ

        Ha Ha Ha

    • Strong Enough

you can’t even see it. how do you not like it?

    • Batt Damon

The Batman series needs to steer as far away from Nolan’s realistic bullshit as possible.

No-One wants to see a Batman that isn’t Bruce or Dick.

Henry Cavill was a much better Superman than Brandon Routh. The material was the problem.

  • the_brute_squad

Still waiting for the studio to tell us they were joking about Ben Affleck and the real Batman is. … anyone but Affleck. Please please please for the love of God please re-cast the caped crusader! Did I say please?

    • blkyank

For gods sake get over it.

      • the_brute_squad

It should actually read, “For God’s sake”. God is capitalized. And no, I won’t get over it when the man that plays my favorite graphic novel/comic character continually insults half of his audience. He is a jackass.

      • Batt Damon

        You spelt it wrong. God is spelt B A T M A N

If that’s a shot of the back of the vehicle, it looks like they’re going for a more traditional Batmobile with perhaps a few accents of the Nolanmobile. Cool stuff.

Jesus Christ haters… I know Nolan’s films were excellent, but his designs didn’t conform much to the canonical designs. Next thing we’ll hear is that the Joker isn’t correct because his face isn’t sliced up.

    • MJ

You are missing the point. Nolan gave us a a Batman that could nearly actually happen. It was realistic. This is the complete opposite approach that Marvel and nearly every other Superhero movie franchise has taken.

I doubt that we will ever get to see an approach like this again. Back to the fantastastical style I guess…..bring on Wonder Woman and Robin….BARF !!!

      • bidi

dude you said it yourself. it’s a TAKE. there have been several TAKES since Batman first appeared on screen and even in comics. ’60s Batman is not nearly the same as late-’80s Batman. chill the fuck out and open yourself to new things. if you give the thing a fuckin chance you just might like it

      • MJ

I hear you, but DC basically copying Marvel’s blueprint just doesn’t get me very excited.

Be careful what you all wish for here. Maybe I will end up being wrong, but I can’t help thinking that the new Batman is not going to be all that compelling. Look at MOS — can you really blame me for not getting too excited about this next movie?

And after the gravitas of the Nolan movies, I don’t think I will be able to take seriously the dumb-ass Wonder Woman character showing up.

      • mbmarquis69

Frankly, after 3 films (which I liked) of a realistic take, I’m done with that. I want something a little more gothic. I’m not talking Batman & Robin over-the-top. But there is a way to combine some of the dark, fantasy elements of Batman’s world to a modern day, real-world approach. It’s time to return Batman to his roots.

      • Batt Damon

Yep. Nolan’s take was good for what it was but it’s time we move on to a proper Batman adaptation

    • Batt Damon

The tumbler was a shitty excuse for a batmobile

Anyone else out there not give even a little bit of a shit about the latest Spiderman, Batman, and Superman reboots? It’s too soon first of all and the effort being put forth is just…well it ain’t good.

    • yrulaughing418

ASM 2 is a mess but ASM 1 was decent. Better than Raimi’s Spider-Man 1 in my opinion.
We haven’t seen the rebooted Affleck Batman yet, too early to judge

    • MJ

      Yep.

    • bidi

i don’t like that Batman is already being rebooted, but it makes sense. the Nolan movies made a couple billion dollars. with a b. that’s a lot of scratch. studios don’t wanna leave that on the table if they don’t have to. so since it’s happening whether we like it or not, i’d say the best we can do is hope it’s good

    • DEADP00L

Yeah I couldn’t give a crap to be honest. Bored with it after the trilogy and it’s being treated like Amazing Spiderman is – too soon to reboot but reboot it is. Only this time it’s no fresh faces and no good writing in sight.

All the positivity for this movie is making me uncomfortable. Let me counter with a bit of my own negativity:

Blatant ripoff of Nolan’s Tumbler. It looks lame. Affleck is going to SUCK!

  • LEM

The most important question is will there be a manufacturer logo on it? We all saw how gross the product placement was in “Man of Steel”.

    • Batt Damon

I know right, it makes me sick. There were Lexcorp and Wayne Enterprise logos everywhere.
