Amy Adams Says BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Films in February; Didn’t Know Wonder Woman Had Been Cast or Was in the Film

It’s not too often you get to tell one of the stars of a huge franchise like Man of Steel casting news, but that’s what happened earlier today when I interviewed Amy Adams for director David O. Russell’s American Hustle.  For whatever reason, I was one of her first interviews, and towards the end of our conversation I tried to ask when she knew Wonder Woman (being played by Gal Gadot) would be in Batman vs. Superman.  However, as I was asking the question, she revealed she didn’t know the character would be in the film or that the role had been cast.   But even though she didn’t know, Adams said it was “awesome” news and she “hoped she gets a scene with her.”   While she didn’t know the casting news, she confirmed the sequel starts to film in February, which makes sense, since the sequel hits theaters in the summer of 2015 and they need plenty of time in post production for the effects.

Hit the jump to watch Adams talk about the Man of Steel sequel, Batman vs. Superman., and look for the full interview soon.

    They’re really rushing this sequel.

2 people disagree… for some reason.

Goyer said that progress on the sequel’s script was made long before Man of Steel even came out.

Some people have differing opinions… for some reason.

      • Steve

        No… I don’t think that’s right.

I know, Nolan is such a rancid whore. After torpedoing Batman he leant his name to this fucking terrible franchise and handed the reigns over to two of the pound for pound stupidest people working in hollywood. I hope he catches on fire.

      • DoctorReality

They’re using him. Attaching his name to a project he didn’t want to be involved in. He was done with DC. Wanna blame someone? Blame WB and/or Snyder.

Also, does anyone know where i can find a Trayvon Martin impersonator that’ll to come to my house, gather my family in the living room, drop his pants and start pissing in my open mouth while yelling “ACTION”? I’d really like that, in fact, i’m pretty sure that it’ll be the best birthday ever! I’m willing to pay $300 cash. $350 if he can make it taste like CORN! LULZ!.

    • http://blu-girl.tumblr.com/ blu girl

Two years doesn’t seem like a rush. Sounds about average for a franchise like this.

  • GrimReaper07

If she didn’t know then that means its either a cameo or that the script is being rushed.

    • Strong Enough

The name Diana could be in the script and Amy had no idea it was wonder woman. but then again why wouldn’t zack tell amy wonder woman is in the script? but then again they must of knew wonder woman was going to be in the film from the start because they were probably doing auditions for her around the same time as batman because its such a big role they need lots of time. But that begs the question: is Wonder woman going to have small screen time because she didn’t audition with Amy? That means she has no scenes with amy therefore she only comes into contact with superman and batman hinting that its just a cameo in the first place.

and thats where babies come from

      • GrimReaper07

I doubt Amy Adams only read her scenes, though that would explain why she signed on for Man of Steel in the first place. OH SNAP

      • Strong Enough

who knows what she read for the sequel. she might have not even read the script yet. just knows she is in the sequel. ah ha…

      • GrimReaper07

Maybe yeah, but the film starts filming in just two months. That’s very very little time. I doubt she’ll have much to do in a Batman vs. Superman feat Wonderwoman movie though.

      • Strong Enough

To memorize lines? I think thats enough time. besides lois will always be important in a superman movie. and this has always been a man of steel sequel even if it has batman in it and a ww cameo

    • lordjim

you could say that about every single character in man of steel, what a waste of talent, and she is a magnificent actress – she was the master in “the master”.i really don´t know what she´s doing in zack snyder movies, but let´s hope for the best.

      • Hamish

“I really don´t know what she´s doing in zack snyder movies”

        Answer = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

      • jmc

No, it wasn’t about money. How much do you think she got paid? She auditioned 3 times for the part because she’s a fan of the character.

      • Hamish

“No, it wasn’t about money. How much do you think she got paid?”

Well, which film do you think put more money in her pocket, her agents’ pockets, and her management’s pockets? Man of Steel or The Master?

Blockbusters equal financial gain and prestige pictures equal critical acclaim. That’s how Hollywood works, folks.

      • jmc

That doesn’t make any sense because Amy Adams had all that BEFORE Man of Steel. Unless you PROVE otherwise, I bet The Master got her more money because it was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and the cast was smaller, not to mention her role was bigger in it.

If you think all actors in blockbusters make a lot more money, you don’t know the film industry.

      • Frank

Man of Steel really had everything going for it… great cast, awesome soundtrack, some damn good special effects, and a competent director. Really, the whole thing was ruined by the suits behind the scenes… the guys that hack-up the script to ensure that there is an action scene every 30 seconds so it will play in peoria.

      • GrimReaper07

Nope, it was ruined because it didn’t have a competent director and because Goyer can’t write anything good on his own.

      • BattleAngel

I am no Snyder fan boy, but I put this one fully on the shoulders of Nolan & Goyer. Nolan anointed this hack. Snyder isn’t a writer, and needs to be shooting good material. Not every killer writer has Snyder’s knack for visuals. Sometimes a person who excels at one thing and is only OK at another is more competent for certain material than a jack-of-all trades.

      • poppincherry

This movie is going to fucking reek of corniness. I bet the script won’t even be finished by the time they start filming because the fucking suits are going to still be asking what the goddamn millennial wants. And ask yourself this, has Justine Beiber been getting ripped for his supposed role in this movie?
        Ding dong!!!!

      • GrimReaper07

Nolan has some blame in it, but most of that blame is hiring people who were responsible for making a bad movie. Snyder had a pretty damn good script with Watchmen, but his direction, save for a couple of sequences, is terrible. He may know a thing or two about CGI, but Watchmen should never look like a videogame.

      • Merlin235

It was, after all, Snyder who suggested having Superman kill Zod.

      • GrimReaper07

I didn’t mind that. I did mind everything else.

    • Pk

True that. Only Snyder can turn her into a bland looking one note actress!

He’s allotted a certain amount of time. It’s not like he can just endlessly chat.

They don’t shoot til Feb. Maybe she hasn’t read the script. I saw the Kevin Smith Yahoo special with the main cast and Snyder. It seems that Amy Adams treats this like a job, does it well, and moves on to other jobs. I doubt she’s trolling Collider daily like you or I for Wonder Woman casting news.
And to those obsessing over Batman or Wonder Woman, remember, this is a Man of Steel sequel.
No matter what they do in this movie, there’ll be another guy in there, the one who can fly, whose eyes emit fire, and who isn’t above snapping a super-neck when he wants to.

  • Howie

Why’s everyone so short-term’d memory round here? The role they were casting, before it was announced to in fact be wondey; was for Bruce Wayne’s love interest! It’s not a cameo, it’s not an end of credits reveal, tho it’d be stupid if wayne’s love were those two; she’s the love interest of the movie!
The problems w/ the film are the designers creating the world. Transformer designers are creating the batmobile! The director of Rise of the Lycans is designing gotham, the batcave, and now wonderwoman’s costume!?!! This piled upon goyer’s poor dialogue and adam’s bad delivery of said dialogue is stacking up a lot against it.

And for all the fat girls saying Gal is too thin unable to handle herself in a fight, don’t. The IDF is not a joke, unless you’ve been in the military, Gal can kill you barehanded! #trainedkillingmachine

    • Cooper

I don’t care if she’s been trained to kill a whole army. Her body looks like it would break in half if she ran into a kid. Wonderwoman wasn’t drawn to look bulimic.

    • SnapIntoASlimJim

Anyone who keeps bringing up Gadot’s military experience is clearly grasping for straws. Gadot is an Israeli citizen and all Israeli citizens must go through some kind of military training. It is mandatory. It’s not impressive. She was not a solider whatsoever and is not fit for combat which is obvious because she is clearly underweight.

      • The Flobbit

“all Israeli citizens must go through some kind of military training.”

What an incredibly ignorant and stereotypical statement.

      • SnapIntoASlimJim

        “Incredibly ignorant and stereotypical statement”????

Idiot, military service is MANDATORY for ALL Israeli citizens. That IS Israeli law.

      • lordjim

you are an idiot, sir.for arabs living in israel it´s not even possible, ultraorthodox jews don´t have to and the rest, well, ever heard of civilian national service? That IS israeli reality.

      • SnapIntoASlimJim

You’re speaking nonsense. Look it up for yourself. Military service for Israeli citizens is mandatory. I’m not making this up. Therefore, her having “military experience” is not impressive and we can tell just by looking at her that she didn’t work out her body to be a soldier. She is a waif.

      • Howie

Actually you’re speaking nonsense. Gal Gadot was a trainer during her mandatory service. She wasn’t just going thru a “military experience.” Not only did she pass her training, she’s proficient enough to train other people how to be better killing machines. And you couldn’t be more wrong in saying she didn’t work out considering her position in the idf was fitness trainer! If there’s one thing i’ve learned from you is that you could not win a fight against a waif. Look it up for yourself.

      • SnapIntoASlimJim

“she’s proficient enough to train other people how to be better killing machines”

What an absolute joke. She is not a trained fighter in any sense. Her “training” was part of her mandatory duty that every Israeli citizen most go through.

“And you couldn’t be more wrong in saying she didn’t work out considering her position in the idf was fitness trainer”

LOL!! So “fitness trainers” are now “killing machines”?? Do you know how foolish you sound??

“If there’s one thing i’ve learned from you is that you could not win a fight against a waif. Look it up for yourself.”

What are you? Some nerd who never goes outside? Or some fanatic of the fashion industry who is in denial. Gadot is a waif. She is underweight. She couldn’t stand up against spring breeze.

      • The Flobbit

Not true. At all. I have known many Jews, and they tell me this is not true. There are plenty of ways to circumnavigate the conscription, including:

“religious study, minority community exemptions, refusing to serve, “low motivation”, and a criminal record”

        Permanently living abroad.

Marriage, pregnancy or parenthood (for women only), in accordance with section 39 of the Security Service Law.

Exemption for religious reasons (for women only), in accordance with sections 39 and 40 of the Security Service Law.

        Exemption on grounds of conscience.

Studying in a Yeshiva might allow the postponement of the recruitment in six months, and after that one might more easily be granted a postponement for an additional six months and so on, as long as the
student continues his studies in the Yeshiva (for men only).

Religious Israeli Druze citizens are exempt from conscription.

Arab citizens of Israel are also exempted.

Some young people are exempted for holding a criminal record.”

As you can see, not ALL Israeli citizens have to do military service, and fewer than “50% of political conscripts actually serve in the military.”

Kindly refrain from sweeping statements in the future.

      • SnapIntoASlimJim

It doesn’t matter if there are ways “to circumnavigate the conscription”. The point is, it EXISTS and the military training is MANDATORY. Finding ways to be exempt doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist and that Gadot didn’t take part in something that is meant for all Israeli citizens so your reply makes absolutely no sense.

      • The Flobbit

It exists, but my point is, is that it is not mandatory for ALL Israeli citizens. There are dozens of exceptions. I think you’re missing the point.

      • SnapIntoASlimJim

No, you’re missing the point. Arguing that there are exceptions is stupid because Gadot was not one of those exceptions and my point is about Gadot. It is a needless argument that has nothing to do with what’s being discussed here.

      • The Flobbit

You are still missing the point. You were wrong when you said that ALL Israelis must do military service, and that is the point.

      • SnapIntoASlimJim

No, I was not wrong. There may be exceptions to a rule. Exceptions don’t mean that a rule doesn’t exist.

      • The Flobbit

Uhh, yes you are wrong. NOT ALL Israelis must do military service. If you are a Druze, the law does not apply to you.

      • SnapIntoASlimJim

Uh.. no I am not wrong. Like I said, exceptions to a rule doesn’t mean the rule doesn’t exist. Besides, this is nothing more than a distraction because that’s not what the point of any of this was.

      • SnapIntoASlimJim

No, I was not wrong. There may be exceptions to a rule. Exceptions don’t mean that a rule doesn’t exist.

So…the idea of Wonder Woman coming in as Batman’s love interest is a GOOD THING?

Sheesh, that’s even worse. Do you know exactly how many women in mainstream superhero movies haven’t had to justify their presence on a superhero team by being someone’s love interest? TWO. Storm and Black Widow. That’s. It. And this is freaking WONDER WOMAN! Y’know, the character who has stood on her own since inception, who doesn’t need to be the girl-version of a pre-existing character or anyone’s love interest. Wow, I hope you are absolutely wrong, because with everything else they’re trying to fit into this thing, making her story presence in the movie hinge on who’s romantically interested in her would be the biggest mistake they could make.

Of course, it’s cute that you think the folks who aren’t sanguine about Gal are all “fat girls.” She’s been a soldier, and I’m sure she’s a good fighter. But she doesn’t have the Amazonian look to her, and it’s unlike that Snyder will ask her to buff up the way he asked Superman to. I’ve known skinny guys who could beat the living snot out of much bigger dudes, but I wouldn’t cast them to be Superman.

      • Howie

Never said it was a good thing. I said it was a pile. It’s a big ol’ steaming pile, and nothing i wrote was conjecture -all facts. The only plausible solution to turn this production around would be Affleck. If Affleck’s able to inject the script w/ some grounded logical story-telling it could be good. But, there’s still these hacks designing everything, which blows.

Yeah, look at halle barry & scarlett johansson no one complained about them playing strong women and they have the same if not less muscle-mass than gal, and instead the two fill out their suits because why? Their fat! If these two actresses had the same bmi as gal they’d be smaller than Gal. But because they walk around w/ a layer of fat people are tricked into the illusion they’re strong. Which comes to your other point, who are the best fighters in the world? It ain’t hulking muscle men, it’s the thinner gracie jiu-jitsu fighters.
Women in the Amazon are not muscular; and if you’re talking about the turkish women of antiquity, they weren’t muscular either, they were archers w/ their right b00b burned off, and I don’t think anyone wants that for anybody.

      • SnapIntoASlimJim

Firstly, no. Halle Berry and Scarlett Johansson are not as scrawny as Gadot is. Second, Wonder Woman is a completely different character than Catwoman and Black Widow. She is a not a thief nor a spy. She is an Amazonian and they are meant to have a different body than women like Catwoman and Black Widow.

Third, you actually just said that both Halle Berry and Scarlett Johansson are “fat”. This makes clear that not only are you clearly not a straight man, you are a fanatic of the fashion industry. A sick industry that promotes underweight women as supposedly the peak of feminine beauty which straight men do not find attractive and anyone with a working knowledge of the body will know are not athletic in any way.

“It ain’t hulking muscle men, it’s the thinner gracie jiu-jitsu fighters”

None of the Gracie fighters are underweight like Gadot is. Anyone can see that with their own two eyes. They have muscular bodies. You cannot properly train in fighting and not build any muscle. This is as obvious as 2 + 2 = 4. You’re not fooling anyone, fashion fanatic.

“Women in the Amazon are not muscular”

Yes, they are. You have no idea what you are talking about. Take your fashion industry obsession and shove it.
