The two latest installments of the Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome prequel series have arrived (you can also catch up on the first two here).  Blood and Chrome follows the pre-BSG exploits of Commander Adama (a sort of “Portrait of the Commander as a Young Man” if you will) and takes places during the first Cylon war.  The series picks up ten years into the war effort, where the young and cocksure Adama (Luke Pasqualino), call-sign Husker, gets thrown into a covert op during his first “milk run.”  Joining him is his surly and war-weary co-pilot Coker (Ben Cotton) as well as a Dr. Kelly (Lili Bordan), who draws the others into her work on a secret mission.  Hit the jump to watch the episodes.

battlestar-galactica-blood-and-chrome-cylonThe choppy nature of the webisode format (remember that Blood and Chrome was conceived of as a two-hour pilot, so there are not natural breaks in the story) makes it difficult to get drawn into the action, especially with characters we do not yet know well.  Still, this should smooth out as the episodes continue, and in Episode 4 we start to get introduced to a few more characters (and interesting technology) as well as the covert mission to help flesh out the world a bit more.  Hopefully, too, Husker will start to become more of his own man and not just a Starbuck 2.0 (or Starbuck 1.0? Or …)  Meanwhile, the next set of episodes seem primed for more toaster action.

Episode 3:

Reeling from the discovery of the ruins of Battlestar Archeron, Adama and Coker’s small Raptor is nearly outmatched when they engage with three enemy Raiders. More secrets are revealed when the crew makes a shocking discovery deep in Cylon space.

Episode 4:

Adama and Coker prepare for a dangerous mission above the Cylon occupied planet Djerba. Coker reunites with an old friend (Sebastian Spence) and reveals startling news.

Series Synopsis:

This highly anticipated chapter in the Battlestar Galactica saga takes place in the midst of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robotic Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, gifted fighter pilot, William Adama (Luke Pasqualino, The Borgias), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and hungry for action, Adama quickly finds himself at odds with his co-pilot, the battle-weary officer Coker (Ben Cotton, Alcatraz). With only 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle as much as Adama craves its onset. Lili Bordán (Silent Witness) also stars.

  1. “remember that Blood and Chrome was conceived of as a two-hour pilot, so there are not natural breaks in the story”
I thought I read a story here yesterday where the showrunner stated that this was ALWAYS conceived as a web-based series. It’s also supposed to work as a movie when put together, but the way this is worded suggests otherwise.

  2. A great series, just watched them all – now what ? If they really do nothing more with this storyline then that must be the dumbest move yet. What a waste.
