I have been assiduously avoiding all news about “Battlestar Galactica” for the past two months. I haven’t had time to keep up with the new episodes but I don’t want my viewing pleasure to get frakked up by a lot of giddy, post-show analysis either.. Therefore I have been pretending this whole “final episode” thing has been all in my mind.

Of course, I am on the internet quite a bit so my denial has occasionally failed me. Like a couple of weeks ago when I learned that Ellen Tigh had been revealed as the final cylon… before I saw the episode!! Thank you for that Matt Goldberg.

Because I’ve had my head in the sand I also missed a story about how CBS’s still-popular forensics procedural “CSI:” planned to work their love of all things “BSG” into an upcoming episode. The story first appeared in the Chicago Tribune but has gotten more attention thanks to the fine reporting of EW’s Michael Ausiello. So, in case you’re a “Galactica” fan who wants to pretend the show won’t be over in about a month here’s the deal with this “CSI:” thing.

The show will air on April 16th and will focus on a murder at a science fiction convention. “BSG” creator Ronald D Moore will guest star (perhaps as himself?) along with Kate Vernon, the actress who plays Ellen Tigh – the one I now know to be the final cylon Gods damn it!! Sorry. I’ll get over it soon I’m sure.

The episode will also feature the lab-geek chemistry of Wallace Langham and Liz Vassey, which is good because I’m not feeling much chemistry with any of the top-line “CSI:” players at the moment – old or new.

I always like a little cross-series stunt-casting so I’ll definitely be watching “CSI:” in April – but for those of you who believe that a crime procedural is beneath the talents of anyone involved with the magnificence that is “BSG” know this: the episode is being written by “CSI:” writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle… two guys who also used to do a bit of writing for a show called “Battlestar Galactica”.

To go over why Katee Sackhoff didn’t join “CSI:” one more time click here
