Now that the film has a firm U.S. release date, the U.S. poster for the adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s novel Bel Ami has gone online. It’s pretty terribly done, with Robert Pattinson front and center surrounded by the very photoshopped Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas against an ugly background. Furthermore, Pattison appears to be giving the viewer either his bedroom eyes or a death stare.
Hit the jump to check out the poster, and if you missed it be sure to watch Steve’s interview with Thurman about the film. Bel Ami will be available VOD on May 4th and opens in theaters on June 8th.
Here’s the synopsis for Bel Ami:
BEL AMI is the story of Georges Duroy, who travels through 1890s Paris, from cockroach ridden garrets to opulent salons, using his wits and powers of seduction to rise from poverty to wealth, from a prostitute’s embrace to passionate trysts with wealthy beauties, in a world where politics and media jostle for influence, where sex is power and celebrity an obsession

It’s his bedroom stare that will kill you if you look at it too long. unnff
This poster isn’t terrible. It reminds me of Dangerous Liaisons.
Teresa—he just looks tired. I know he sleeps in the bedroom, but why is looking sleepy and uninterested sexy to you?

Um, at the very worst this poster it’s adequate. So Is there really any need for the hyperbole Adam?
