First Look at Ben Affleck as Batman and the Batmobile in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN [Updated with High-Res]

The first image of Ben Affleck as Batman in director Zack Snyder’s superhero sequel Batman vs. Superman (unofficial title) has landed online.  Affleck plays Bruce Wayne/Batman to Henry Cavill’s Superman in the follow-up to Snyder’s 2013 film Man of Steel, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane reprising their roles, Gal Gadot onboard as Wonder Woman, and Jesse Eisenberg set as the villainous Lex Luthor.  This new image also shows us the front of the Batmobile after getting a peek under the tarp yesterday.  Both Batman and his vehicle look fine; they’re distinct from the previous iterations without being too foreign.  The ears are the stubbiest they’ve been since Adam West‘s Batman costume, and the insignia is gigantic.  It will be interesting to see how it looks in color.  I’m just wondering why Batman looks so sad when he has such an awesome car.  Chin up, Bats.

Hit the jump to check out the debut Ben Affleck Batman image.  The film also stars Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, and Tao Okamoto.  The untitled Batman/Superman film opens in theaters May 6, 2016.

Take it easy, guy. As if someone expressing a negative opinion has any effect on the film. The picture looks all kinds of badass and the movie is going to rock. “Strong Enough” will be in line for the midnight showing just the same as everyone.

      • http://mysite.verizon.net/vzepr1xp/index.html unsean

Probably not, after all Zach Snyder is directing. That being said the colorized photo (if accurate) looks way too bulky.

  • Reggie

Looks way cooler than the Nolan version of the batsuit and batmobile.

    • The Flobbit

Bull. Shit. Get your Nolan hating crap out of here. Nolan is a more talented filmmaker than Snyder will ever be, and Christian Bale brought a brilliant interpretation to the role. His Batman was a hulking monster. This Batman looks like a plastic toy.

Also: not a Nolan fanboy. Just a guy with facts.

      • calebrcrawford

That this picture of the suit and the batmobile is more pleasing visually to fans of Batman does not in any way place Nolan as a director under Snyder. As a big time Batman fan and fan of Nolan’s work, I would say that I prefer his other work over his Batman films (The Dark Knight not included). Still as far as comic fans go, this vision of the character is nearly spot on.

      • GrimReaper07

Lol “to fans of Batman”. I love how you speak for all fans.

      • comicbookXpert

i disagree. the suit in batman&robin is the best one to date. Clooney’s batman was spot on as far as comic fans go

      • Agent777

        What? Dude… Dude your funny.

      • GrimReaper07

Plus, without Nolan this movie would never actually exist and we’d still be seeing goofy Batman movies (not saying they were bad though). Disagree about this Batman looking bad though, I think Afflec looks awesome and will nail the role.

      • comicbookXpert

in what issue does the green lantern become batman?

      • GrimReaper07

        Wat

      • poppincherry

        BS to everything you said.
Besides any of you that thinks that image is non CG rendered is an asshole.
Ben will nail the role. Fuck yuz

      • GrimReaper07

I literally said earlier Ben Affleck will nail the role and that the suit looks great, just that Nolan’s was also really good. Dunno what you’re talking about.

      • dodge hickey

It wasn’t a comment about which director is better, it was a comment about the suit. I respect Nolan enough as a film maker that I wouldn’t act a immature fan boy like you did with your comment.

      • HeSaidSheSaidMv

He’s a whackjob. He lashes out at anyone who disagrees with him and Collider doesn’t do anything about it. Say anything critical about the columnists and your gone though.

      • MITIOR

You DEFINETELY sound like a nolan fanboy. Be proud of who you are, don’t hide it man, it will only hurt you.

      • Israel Cruz

I don’t hate Nolan’s Batman series at all, but visually, this kicks every other cinematic Batman’s ass. Hands down.

      • comicbookXpert

not if you are a real batman fan

      • huehuehue

        or a fucking crybaby

      • Merlin235

        I agree with your opinion.

      • Frank

I’m a Nolan fan and he is a better director but I do think this rendition of the suit looks better. I’m impressed, particularly with the fibrous look. It will photograph well. Let’s just pray the story works. Visuals have never been Snyder’s problem. I want to see him deliver on a great story. Hoping he can.

      • The Flobbit

I never said I didn’t like the suit. I want to point out that Nolan was not trying to make a “cool” suit. He was making a functional, military-grade piece of hardware, same with the Tumbler. I think his suit fitted the material perfectly, and maybe this one will be good. Visuals and suits are all very well, but when push comes to shove, Nolan is the better filmmaker, while Snyder is backed up by David Suck Goyer.

      • Sweet Pea

I always wondered what David Goyer’s middle name is…

      • The Flobbit

Absolutely. Imagine my surprise at finding JJ Abrams stands for Jmystery Jbox Abrams!

      • Sweet Pea

Morgan Freeman’s middle name is also Morgan.

      • the king of comedy

I agree that Nolan is a more talented filmaker than Snyder, but Snyder does have a good eye for visuals and desing. I also like this version of the suit and batmobile better than The Dark Knight`s trilogy`s designs. Christian Bale did a great job playing Batman, but let`s face it Nolan`s version of Batman was the directors vision of the character and different in many aspects to the character we`ve met at comic books, so there`s enough room for someone else to do something different and fresh with the character, I like the fact that this suit is so different from the ones we`ve seen in previous movies but still recognizable as batman`s suit. And finally, the best suit of TDK trilogy and Bale´s best performance as Batman were seen in Batman Begins.

Your opinions are not facts … they are opinions … mine are below:
The Nolan films were very well put together and even well acted … but they were nothing like Batman. Bane-light and Fake Catwoman were terrible … Like Spiderman 3 terrible. The films were entertaining and contained the best Joker I believe we will ever see.
Batman has had many interpretations and I am looking forward to seeing a new one … The BatFleck

Never really a fan of the cowls with shorter ears, though it’s still an improvement on the Nolan cowls.

The lighting makes it difficult to tell whether or not the suit is completely gray, but that’s what it looks like.

Otherwise, looks pretty much exactly like the way Frank Miller drew him.

    • https://twitter.com/adamcrossphoto Adam Cross

“The lighting makes it difficult to tell whether or not the suit is completely gray, but that’s what it looks like.” …. It’s a black and white photo.

      • CarlSHess

Yes, but there should still be contrast in a black and white photo between different colors. The logo is definitely the same color as the suit itself. I mean, it could be a blue Batsuit, but with the other Miller influences in it I doubt it.

      • RedMercury

Actually, Batman will be entirely in black and white. The rest of the characters will be in color.

Yup. You heard it here first.

  • Grayden

Batmobile got a flat. AAA membership expired. Sometimes it’s hard being Batman.

  • Cody

I know its a black and white pic, but it looks like the mask is black and the suit it self is grey. And the logo looks grey as well. It pains me to say it but the costume design has never been an issue with me in the Zack Snyder Bizarro DCU. It’s just a shame that everything else about this move is going to be terrible/already is terrible/can’t not be terrible.

    • http://tarek-to-verso.over-blog.com/ tarek

      Snyder loves washed-out colors.

      • http://www.collider.com/ DNAsplitter

I hope he goes back to his style of Watchmen for this film. Hoping he does as he’s working w Larry Fong again (same DP from Watchmen).

      • dROK83

He brought back Larry Fong (Watchmen, 300, Sucker Punch) as the cinematographer instead of Amir Mokri (Man of Steel), so it should be closer to his other films as far as the visual aesthetic.

    • evinrude

Impressed, until seeing it in high resolution. The concept is strong, but the construction looks overdone. All of the seams and lines over the surface give it a look that’s organic and handmade, which doesn’t suit the character at all.

  • JBug

Very cool pic, but I’m not a fan of the new suit. There is very little detail/design and the short ears make him look wimpy. I like how jacked he is – very Snyder like.

    • Brandon

I don’t think the picture is large enough to really see much detail.

    • evinrude

Open the high-res image — it’s overdesigned. The suit’s covered in some leathery texture and there’s strange seams all over the torso .

  • Sola do Tênis

Ears tend to grow with age.
Not in the case of Batman, it seems.

  • Rob Danger Cappuccini-Donnelly

is that a ding in the roof?

  • amnesiac

Looks like they went with the Dark Knight Returns look. Nice choice.

    • The Flobbit

I’m looking at The Dark Knight Returns right now, and there is little similarity. Miller’s Batman is a hulking, brooding monster. He looms high and wide and has a brutal, bruised look about him. Affleck might be okay, but there is no seeing Miller’s caustic, cynical Batman about him…

      • Snarky

I think he means more in the design of the cowl, with the short ears placed far back and the front cut evenly across the nose and cheekbones.

Obviously, we’ll have to wait to see how Affleck does playing him.

      • The Flobbit

Sure, I guess so. Nevertheless, the Dark Knight Returns Batman was a mountain. He was freaking huge.

      • Potzer

To be fair, The Dark Knight Returns is a very different Batman than what we are probably going to see here. DKR Batman was dealing with mutants, a super insane Joker, and Bruce has been retired for years. His comeback isn’t so much a heroic return as it is the succumbing of an addiction. (Overly simplified).

  • Person

Looks solid. I like the B&W, just wish the photo was in color so we could see what kinda what it’ll look like in the film.

  • Kevin Carter

Looks fine to me. Very happy and can’t wait to see more images asap

I don’t know how i feel about the suit, but always wondered why a suit that looks like your wearing some kind of armor has abs and pecks. At least there are no nipples ( that we can see).

  • MTB

I guess there’s millenia old precedent.

    • mbmarquis69

If you were a muscular dude with abs and pecs and ever had to wear tight fitting body armor, you wouldn’t be asking that question.

  • habb

I think we get the Batman from the arkham asylum game.
A not so serious batman like the one from the dark knight, but also not the goofy one from tim burtons Batman.

A batman who does Justice to the comics.
The Batman the world deserves and need.

    could be somethin …
But i am concerned of Goyer`s Role in this film….

    • aceshigh

There was nothing goofy about Keaton’s Batman.

      • calebrcrawford

1.) He has to dodge a missile shot at hime by penguins.
2.) The “Do you want to get nuts, Jack?” scene.

That being said, Batman and Batman Returns are visually my favorite of the live action Batman films.

      • aceshigh

I’m saying the character himself wasn’t goofy. Certain goings-on around him certainly were, but Keaton portrayed both with a certain somberness.

“Do you wanna get nuts?” was Bruce trying to protect his identity by intentionally acting like a rich guy completely out of his league with a master criminal.

  • Bad Zack

very daredevil looking im worried and Batmobile should have stayed the tumbler vs. changing it to a hybrid version of tumbler and Batman forever

  • The Flobbit

    The Good:
Batmobile looks very comic-book-y, not functional like Nolans.
    That is one striking Bat-pose.
    I like the brooding darkness.

    The Bad:
    Stubby little ears.
    Fake muscles.
    Strange veiny corduroy textures.
    The bat symbol is hideous.

    The Ugly:
    Ben Affleck’s wimpy butt-chin.

    • http://tarek-to-verso.over-blog.com/ tarek

I’ll play for you the music with my harmonica

    • Person

Is it just me, or does that new pic of Affleck (the brighter one that’s cropped to show just him) make him look abnormally large/fat? He almost has a Bane-like physique, it looks unnatural.

      • The Flobbit

He’s covered in Kevlar-like muscle plates, to hide the fact that he can’t bulk like Christian Bale or Henry Cavill, not to mention Tom Hardy, who looked like an actual monster in TDKR.

      • Person

I don’t have a problem with fake muscles, but this just doesn’t even look natural. Also having seen it in color now, the grey just isn’t working for me. And that oversized Bat logo looks too cartoonish. At that size it barely even looks like a bat.

      • dROK83

The colorized version is exactly that, someone else colorizing the photo. That isn’t an “official” color image.

      • dROK83

Affleck is taller and broader than all three of them.

      • The Flobbit

Christian Bale put on 30kg of muscle for The Dark Knight, Henry Cavill looked like an actual god for Man of Steel, and Tom Hardy’s Bane was a hulking brutal mountain of muscle. I’d be scared to put Affleck in the same room as them.

      • The Flobbit

He’s covered in Kevlar-like muscle plates, to hide the fact that he can’t bulk like Christian Bale or Henry Cavill, not to mention Tom Hardy, who looked like an actual monster in TDKR.

    • http://www.collider.com/ DNAsplitter

The look that he has is very similiar to Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns with him being wider/larger. I agree w the ears being to stubby and the emblem being to classic looking from DC’s silver age but everything else looks pretty bad ass to me. Kinda excited even w Snyder directing it (my hopes is Affleck will be on the set a lot to help even out his style/over substance approach).

I agree I was shocked and didn`t like the news that Afleck would be the next Batman, but then I started to think about it and tought this migh actually work, and now that I see the suit I think he looks great as Batman. Now I have faith that Afleck will do great,, I wish I had more faith in Snyder and Goyer.

      • Hunter

Exactly. Ben has gained a lot of respect in recent years and I think he will take a smart approach to the character. It’s Snyder and Goyer, like you said, that are my big worries for the film.

  • Cpt Rex Kramer

Snyder does undeniably have great eye for visuals and design but seriously lacks skills in the dramatic arena. The suit and batmobile look great, like they’ve been ripped straight out of the comics, esp. Frank Millers but that doesn’t take away from the fact that this is still a pseudo Superman sequel to a first movie, that was in my mind a very tedious mess, that and Ben Affleck who is a risky choice.
    I don’t know…

  • john

Maybe it has to do with the fact that he is ‘An ageing Batman’.

      • DEADP00L

An aging Batman? He doesn’t look aged he looks ridiculous if they wanted an aged Batman they ought to have gone for a man that actually is aged. This guy looks like he’s had too many deep fried breaded burritos.

  • David Frazier

Before too much more judgment is passed against Affleck for his role in Daredevil, keep in mind that he was only an actor in the film and actors take direction from…directors!!! You knew that was coming. I’ve heard very little critique directed at Colin Farrell or Jennifer Gardner for their roles and I found it appeared to be forced and kind of “unnatural” to them. Affleck did OK in Good Will Hunting and a couple others…maybe the directors and/or producers should try looking for people who may actually KNOW the roles they are going to take before they give them to them? Especially if those roles are fan favorite comic book characters. Affleck had most likely not even have ever heard of Daredevil prior to being offered the role…kind of like Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze (Ghostrider)…terrible acting and then to offer him the sequel…and that was worse than the first rendition he did!

    • dROK83

He’s actually a Daredevil fan, but he’s supposedly a huge Batman fan. Daredevil had a lot going against it, the director and writer (same guy) was terrible, and wrote a terrible story and screenplay. No amount of incredible acting could’ve saved that movie. Seriously, the same guy wrote and directed Ghost Rider, and wrote Elektra, and Jack Frost. He’s awful.

I love it! This is what I was hoping for yesterday at the sneak peak photo – a shot of Batman w the Batmobile (like Burton did in ’89). It’s nice that they went with the Noelle Batman mixed w Frank Millers Dark Knight Returns. Just not a fan of the Bat emblem. It’s also reminiscent of the Batman Arkham games – which is what I hope that they are trying to emulate in style.

  • Steven

Looks even more awesome than Nolan’s suit.

    Affleck is gonna rock.

  • brNdon

I like the car. I’m not sure if I like the suit. I really wish they had gone with the Batman: Noel suit.
Looks like this Batman won’t be turning his head.

    • Kyle Chandler

I’m not ENTIRELY sure of that. It looks like the cape and cowl might move independent of the suit.

I don’t know why, but the not being able to turn his head thing is really obnoxious to me. One reason I could never really get into the Burton batmans.

    • Polarboy

Come on, lets at least see it in action before we go jumping to conclusions. These guys are well aware of the history of the suit and things in costume design have moved on since then, I find it very unlikely that they wouldn’t take range of movement into consideration.

    • dROK83

The cowl material looks to be some kind of leather, rather than the bulking latex from Burton’s or Batman Begins suit, and it looks independent from the rest of the suit. So I’m sure he’ll be able to movie his head.

  • comicbookXpert

I personally am not a fan of this suit. judging by the material they used there is no way it can be fire-proof or bullet-proof like in the comics

    • http://www.collider.com/ DNAsplitter

Most versions of Batman’s suits in the comics are not fire proof/bullet proof but just simple cloth/spandex.

      • The Flobbit

        Not in Miller’s stories.

  • Sean B

I just wish we could see what Gerard Kennelly would have done with the suit design. I heard he designed a pretty cool one, I just wish I could find it online somewhere.

this is the tits. everything about it is awesome. yes, even the actor under the cowl. LET’S GO 2016

No nipples (at least not until the rainbow crowd cries foul). Good start!

    • Rainbow Crowd?

the “rainbow crowd”? how did you manage to sneak that vaguely homophobic remark into a discussion about the aesthetic qualities of Batman’s new suit?

      • dolphin558

        I recommend re-reading the post. That’s how.

      • mbmarquis69

I’m pretty sure I would qualify as a member of your “rainbow crowd” and I freakin’ hated the nipples. So there goes that stereotype.

  • http://www.discogs.com/ AdamShitwood

So were doing the Rubber Muscles thing, eh? It looks fine. If the movie sucks, I might hate it since that would lead to me hating everything about the movie. Will reserve judgement until I see the movie. Will not jump to conclusions like overreacting internet guy

  • yrulaughing418

Clearly he’s meant to look different from Baleman but the stubby ears are kinda lame

    • Redjester

Really? I dig how it kinda harkens back to West’s Batman. A nice ode.

I might be biased, though, as I grew up watching reruns of that show with my grandfather.

More importantly, it looks EXACTLY like Frank Miller’s Batman which is, in my opinion, the best Batman.

  • Django9000

So we’re back to rubber muscled impractical suits then, eh?

    • Polarboy

Why does everything have to be practical, f**k practical, this is a different iteration from Nolan’s films and I for one am ready for the more fantastical elements that are intrinsic to Batman’s character.

If you sit down and really think about Batman and don’t suspend your disbelief there is very little practical about him and the way he operates. Nolan didn’t believe he could or didn’t care to try to incorporate the more fantastical elements, but I do believe its possible to go the other way.

  • http://www.deathstar.nl/ Simon

It looks fantastic. Also love the look of the new Batmobile. Look like a combination of the Tumbler and Keaton’s Batmobile.

  • Daniel Mitchell

Why not do a solo Batman movie and another solo Superman film rather than throw them all together Marvel style so fast? Whats the rush?

    • Django9000

The rush is the fact that Snyder knows he has no interesting Superman story to tell that’d be either inspiring, compelling, or fascinating (thus: use property as an excuse to make a Batman movie instead.)
Say what you will, but Marvel tried their hardest to allow each character to stand on their own & not rely on each other either for storytelling purposes or box office draw.

  • God’s Diamond

Uh, he’s looking sad cuz his parents were murdered in front of him. Duh

  • Redjester

Eff the haters, the suit, Affleck in the suit, and the batmobile all look rad. This is looking infinitely better than I had expected it to.

  • Redjester

For those bitching that he looks out of shape and mentally exhausted, that’s kind of the point. He’s the over the hill Batman. Read the comics for god’s sake.

    • Kyle Chandler

NO! He should never be allowed to show human emotion! I want a 2 dimensional character that i’ll never be able to relate to on any type of basic emotional level. That sounds like a compelling film.

      • Redjester

        LOL…

      • RedMercury

        Hear hear!

        And explosions! LOTS of explosions!

        Also, some half-naked women.

  • Nathaniel Haywood

Visually, this is definitely the best Batman has ever looked onscreen. By best, I mean the closest to the comics without looking like a cartoon. It’s exciting, but then we have to remember that Snyder has no problem with visuals. He has problems with stories. So I’m staying cautiously optimistic until we get closer to the actual film.

  • mbmarquis69

How accurate is the bat logo? Is it true to some previous comic iteration? It’s tall and wide just like it appears in the Batman/Superman mashup graphic above. Which is sort of weird from Batman’s perspective. Surely he didn’t design his logo with a future team up with Supes in mind. And it would be more than just a coincidence that both of their symbols fit together so neatly. Not a gripe. Just an observation.

    • Kyle Chandler

I guess Batman also has a marketing degree somewhere in that utility belt.

      • mbmarquis69

Well that would make the one and only thing I have in common with him (the degree, not the belt).

    • vpuik

Just search for frank Miller batman.

Jesus, does Batman have boobs now? WTF?

  • Django9000

“Critique” is allowed on the Internet & real world alike. I’m just not getting a very creative vibe from this pic. I’d rather see the bulk of Miller’s suit from TDKR interpreted thru the armor lens of recent films, with some Kevlar plates to separate the artificial muscle bulk plates from one another, allowing fluid movement. It was a freaking plot point of the Dark Knight for chrissakes. This is just more looking at comics as storyboards, interpreting visually Miller’s cartoonist huge cloth costume with rubber. Explain how this suit fits into the realistic world M o S purported to be building.
Who wears rubber suits, for any purpose? This dials things back 10 yrs, basically. I’ll wait for the film for final judgement, but M o S definitely felt 55 % there too.

    • Grendal Sven

HEY! Divers and surfers wear rubber suits all the time…

      Just sayin.

  • HeSaidSheSaidMv

“So you mean to tell me that guy from Daredevil is playing me?” *Disappointed, Batman looks away*

  • GRIM

anyone else notice that the suit logo is different to the publicity logo?

    • vpuik

The logo is the one that goes with the suit. Just look up frank miller batman.

  • 80sRobot

I posted this before (yesterday on the other news thread) — it looks to me like this Batmobile will have 6 tires. I think it could be based on this design:

    http://www.batmobilehistory.com/2011-the-return-batmobile.jpg

  • Pk

And this is the batman who is supposed to fight alongside superman and wonder man in a justice league movie?

  • Bronson

I love it. I also loved Nolan’s. Shorter ears. And Affleck looks more beefy, blocky. Is that the actual in color? I approve.

    • Polarboy

Nah it’s a colourized version from someone with some photoshop skills.

      • Bronson

I’m hoping It’s the black bat on grey suit. It’s a throwback to Frank Miller’s. I’m always going to love Nolan’s Batman. However, I’m always open to a new interpretation of the character.

      • Lee Harvey Cobblepot

This. That’s part of the charm of the character, how adaptable and malleable he is to fit into different types of stories while still remaining iconic.

In these pics, Batman looks like a fucking bruiser, and that’s something I have been wanting to see on the screen for a loong time (basically since back in ’89. Shit, that’s 25 years ago, I’m getting old! -Shut the fuck up!). I just hope they don’t skimp on the martial arts training, because that is another area that I feel hasn’t really been explored properly in movies. But we’ll see. I’m pretty sure Snyder will manage the action. It’s the more subtle character traits and nuances I’m curios to see.

  • Go Tham!

Anyone else see the Joker face in the wheel on the left of the Batman picture? Coincidence or not?

    • Bronson

I saw that too. I think it’s part of the Batmobile however.

  • http://mattedscreen.blogspot.com/ TheMattedScreen

I’ll put my excitement this way – I want this movie to be good so I can purchase the eventual 6th scale figure from Hot Toys and not feel ashamed about it…

  • bidi

it would be pretty badass if this was a DLC skin on Arkham Knight

  • Grendal Sven

The suit looks great, the scene sets the mood for Frank Miller’s batman perfectly. Still, one pic does not a good movie make.

    • The Flobbit

Absolutely. I think the suit looks cool and badass, but Affleck is troubling to me, and Snyder’s washed-out grim visuals, coupled with see-through characters and mindless destruction is not reassuring.

  • Faptain America

Great suit. Looks like it’ll give Batman more mobility than the Nolan suit. I also trust Snyder to have Batman fight better than the stiff Nolan style. This Batman looks like he could reach out and just rip your face off.
While the Tumbler looked great parked, I think this batmobile is going to look amazing when in motion.

  • BlueandGrey

Wait, is this gonna be a blue and grey batman?? oh snap

  • brNdon

Brolin would have owned this role!

    • The Flobbit

And so would have Wes Bentley, Richard Armitage, Karl Urban, Jim Caviezel, and a dozen others.

      • The Flobbit

I agree: he’s tall, broad, grizzled, and he’s got a deep voice and smoldering eyes. His Batman would be world-weary and full of gravitas. Bentley would have been awesome, as recommended by Christopher Nolan.

      • Pk

Armitage is the best pick of the lot

      • brNdon

  • Grayden

  • Mike

Give me a bottle of Steroids and “KA-BLAMMM!” I’m Batman too! Why do all the superheroes look like they’re on “Horse Vitamins” nowadays?? I saw Man Of Steel and all those Steroidal Muscles are unnecessary because SUPERMAN IS AN ALIEN. I don’t know what kind of message these movie are sending, but it’s still the WRONG one. (Besides, more dense muscle mass equals SLOWER acceleration. Not good for a superhero.)

    • http://thenonessentials.blogspot.com/ Sean Chandler

By chance have you ever seen the way either Superman or Batman look in the comic books? You could say they look fit.

    Batman begins ok
    TDK – genius
    TDKR – worse than bad
    Inception – terrible

Not a great track record for Nolan

Setting that aside this batsuit and car look incredible. Nolan’s was special ops with ears. Which is in alignment with the military theme, but it looked shit.

And Watchman was on par with TDKR

TDKR was luck and mainly incredible because Heath Ledger raised the level of the movie to greatness.

Inception and TDKR really were poor movies. If you just focused on them rather than blowing hobbits while watching then you might realise this…

The sad thing here is that you really do sound like an 11 or 12 year old…for real!

      • spongefist

My English teacher said that when people finished sentences with ‘for real’ they were not very well educated and it would be impossible to have a rational debate or discussion with them, or put forward a different point of view, because obviously their one is ‘for real’.

        Sorry, back to homework xx
(I’m an 11 year old girl by the way)

PS: Despite my “for real,” I have two advanced degrees…but in engineering, not in the arts.

PS2: I am a huge Nolan fan…so we will just have to agree to disagree regarding his movies. The single biggest movie event for me this year will be Interstellar.

I can’t understand why people hate this, you act like DK was the best till AVENGERS. This makes the movie more interesting because they changed the costume. If it’s shitty in action then you can talk.

  • saywut

That suit looks like sh**. The emblem looks terrible. The exoskeleton jock strap is freaking hilarious. And, the batmobile looks like a concept sketch out of Schumacher’s universe. Maybe, there will be more neon in the final cut.

    • MJ

Yea, this is complete regression. It’s like we are back in the 90′s again.

  • MJ

Looking at it again — the emblem looks like a fracking bra? Is that a “Batzier” perhaps?

And his entire body language and bursting at the seams gut is like a guy that has been trying to hold in a massive shit for 2 days. in fact, look at his clenched arms — it seriously looks like poor Batman is actually physically straining to keep from crapping his pants.

  • Koroko

People who say “he looks fat” seriously have no idea. No idea at all.

I fucking love this, geeked out the moment I laid eyes on it. Zack Snyder may need to go to a workshop or two to get the best performances out of his actors, but the guy is a master at visual storytelling and his casting is always pretty great.

    Very happy indeed.

    • YodaRocks

I think you should suggest them the ‘idea’.

    • Bronson

Like I stated before. He looks beefy/blockish like Frank Miller’s Batman.Love the short ears Which was great BTW. I say he can turn his head. There’s no way they’ll leave that out. I’m excited for this take on the character.

  • paul mason

Looks great to me, Ben does look bummed burnt out behind the cowl just as promised by Zack, if this goes full on Miller, I cant wait to see the female Robin.

  • Agent777

Looks decent, it’s about time we have had a non all black outfit. Almost looks CGI, like something out of the Arkham video game series. But I am more curious as to how Wonder Woman will look.
