Though director Zack Synder’s Man of Steel follow-up Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice doesn’t open in theaters until 2016, Comic-Con-goers will be quite disappointed if we don’t see something from the film during the Warner Bros. Hall H panel on Saturday.  The thirst for superhero footage should be temporarily quenched by today’s reveal of a new Ben Affleck Batman v Superman image that gives us another look at Affleck as the Caped Crusader.  The image premiered on the convention floor at the DC Booth to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Batman character.  This image is a much tighter shot than the previous character reveal, giving us a great look at some Batfleck Stubble.  I really think the choice of casting Affleck as Batman was a fantastic move, and I’m crossing my fingers we get to see a short tease of the character in action this weekend.

Hit the jump to take a look at the new Ben Affleck Batman v Superman image.  The film also stars Gal GadotJesse EisenbergAmy AdamsLaurence FishburneJason MomoaHolly HunterCallan Mulvey, Tao OkamotoScoot McNairy, and Jeremy Irons.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters on May 6, 2016.

This is the first thing I thought of when I saw this image
    http://southpark.cc.com/clips/104392/ben-assfleck

He looks good and honestly at this point, Affleck is the only thing the film has going for it. I’m cautiously excited and hope Affleck can pull off Batman. Eisenberg will probably suck as Lex which is a shame when all they had to do was call Heisenberg instead! It’s over with but still a shame.

    • Grow Up

Why would you assume that Eisenberg won’t be good for this newer 21st Century version of Luthor?
Is it because Bryan Cranston was bald at the time they announced this sequel and you have no imagination? Yeah, thought so.

Cranston’s current cinematic track record is weak-weak-weak at best. The guy is yet to do one major role in any film since he finished with Breaking Bad that isn’t dreck.

      • 80sRobot

I am wondering if Eisenberg will manage to pull a definitive performance of Lex in a manner similar to what Heath Ledger did with the Joker, silencing the doubters.

      • LEM

He hasn’t played anything except himself at least Heath had a few different roles and tried to stretch as an actor but Eisenberg is Eisenberg in everything so far.

      • mbmarquis69

Anything’s possible, but Ledger literally disappeared into that character. I can’t really see the same thing happening with Eisenberg (although I don’t hate his casting).

      • Louie Jonze

No I don’t assume that Eisenberg will be a bad 21st century Lex because Cranston is bald. It’s because I believe Cranston would have had a more fleshed out Lex than Eisenberg. Hell, they asked Cranston about potentially playing Lex and said that he believes Lex gets a bad rap and is a sweet man. Don’t believe me? Check it out http://www.hitfix.com/news/bryan-cranston-denies-hes-playing-lex-luthor-in-man-of-steel-sequel

Eisenberg has lived off of a 1 note personality his entire acting career. Secondly Eisenberg has literally done only 2 good movies, Social Network and Zombieland. Honestly my issue isn’t that I wanted Cranston specifically, I just wanted a better actor for Lex. I wanted desperately to see Joaquin Phoenix as Lex.

      • MJ

I agree with Grow Up here. Cranston was lame in Godzilla. He’s a “good TV actor” who’s never really been able to make the jump to A-lister movie actor status. Benedict Cumberbatch, anyone? Is that Keifer Sutherland I just heard? LOL

      • Grow Up

“more fleshed out” – well that depends on the script, which has nothing to do with either actor.

And in that article he never said he was approached, he says: “This is all news to me. I think that
maybe my name is bandied about because I’m known to be bald. ‘What bald
guy can we get?’ The reality is they can take any actor and shave his
head or put a bald cap on him.” – You fuckin’ moron.

Eisenberg has lived off of a one-note personality? What about Woody Allen? What about Bryan Cranston (famous now for the 5 series of a show where he played the same character throughout; god, how one-note!) Eisenberg riffs on the popular version of himself, for sure, but to then compare his two most famous roles from The Social Network and Zombieland? They are two very different characters whose similarities exist because they are portrayed by the same actor, you dingus.

And he hasn’t “literally done 2 good movies” – you just haven’t watched enough of his stuff, you cunt.

“Wanted a better actor for Lex” – go punch yourself into a coma, you self-entitled dickweed.

      • Louie Jonze

Damn, I just giving my opinion on the guy. No need for the name calling. I just want a good movie but I’m not optimistic at the prospects of Eisenberg as Lex. If he good, I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong. I take back only 2 good movies, he also did Adventureland and The Double which were solid films. I haven’t seen enough from him to get a good feel he’d be a good Lex. But hey I hope he’s good

      • Grow Up

Lovely. You see what happens when you take the time to think before you type? You can give a measured and sensible response to something.

Why aren’t we getting a white slit eyed batman? I just never understood exposing your eyes to the open like that. He can’t protect them from sprays, he can’t see in the dark, he exposes himself to being identified with a single eyescan, he jumps off of roofs he cant shield his eyes from dust or particles blowing in his face, and yet NO MOVIES has Batman with white hightech lenses.

    • Theodore Trout

He has them near the end of The Dark Knight, as part of his ‘sonar’ gear.

      • DEADP00L

Meh, those were like goggles thy were just HUGE. I mean in the eyes slits of the inside of the cowl. Like the Daredevil suit?

  • marrowbonez

I’m just going to say “MEH”. Mostly because I want to show everyone that I have really high standards and it takes a lot to impress me. Also because it makes me look like an original thinker and give me a certain level of coolness while all you “sheeple” who are so easily impressed sing praises for this photo. I say “MEH” because this photo is not worth me using my thoughts, intellect or vocabulary to give an actual opinion of this photo. Instead, I’m just going blurt out some monosyllabic grunt like “MEH” because all of these comments are beneath me. Now, if you please excuse me, My Little Pony is about to come on and I’m almost out of lube.

“This particular film has a lot of goodwill it needs to make up for after the snarkfest that followed Affleck’s casting.”

Yes, because the be-all and end-all of movies is clowns like you and everyone else on this website complaining about colour photos, Affleck’s chin and whether or not it’ll be adapted from THIS comic or THAT comic. Thankfully there are audiences outside of this niche, that are called the mainstream, who go and see films based on reviews, hearsay and advertising. That is so – but least you don’t have to listen to them bang on about certain super-hyped films… Well, actually, that’s the problem really – no one talks about the films themselves, they talk about the fuckin’ costume, the lack or abundance of promotion, how it’s “not as good”/”way better” than the comics/previous films/video games, and how “Ben Affleck? Jesse Eisenberg? Where are the real actors?” like they know the difference…

        Mainstream audience over fanboys anyday.
Mind you, I’d prefer an intellectual – and we’d talk about movies that aren’t just money-making cash-scams. I’m sure Superman/Batman has all the potential to be a ‘good’ film, but it’s still just a superhero movie in the end. Peace.

Did you see the cape and cowl on display? it looks like he’ll be turning his head like it’s 1989. In the picture above it seems as though the cowl, cape and body of the suit aren’t all of one piece, so this could allow for greater movement. Bottom line is that without seeing footage it is foolish to make any blanket statements with regards to mobility.

You realize that was a joke right? did you see the comic-con clip? I’m excited that he’ll have the armor batman suit at some point.

      • Polarboy

If you have to explain a joke it is not a joke man, and any reasonable person would have expected you to still be talking about what we were previously from the comment above and your comments before that. Maybe put in an emoticon or something, or maybe don’t bother cause its not funny either anyway ;)

      • LEM

Jokes need to be explained to pea brains like you. ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐

      • Polarboy

Nah, jokes have to be in a clear context and actually be funny, what you said was neither of those things. Randomly bringing up a clip that you had no idea if I’d seen or not is not funny and even if I had seen it is still not funny in the context of our conversation, or at all. Keep trying though ;)

Nah jokes are subjective and I asked about the clip in the FOLLOWING comment because you seem interested in the movie like me so it wasn’t a point of contention just a friendly question to see what you thought of it but you seem hell bent on some pointless fan boy argument. ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐

      • Polarboy

Jokes can be subjective, indeed, but I think I’m safe in saying that very few if anybody would find your attempt at humour funny.

      • LEM

        Indeed.

      • LEM

        Indeed.

Eff the haters. Everything I’ve seen of this movie so far looks amazing, including this.

  • mattinacan

I really like the way it looks. Unfortunately I also said that about Man of Steel and that was shit after the first hour.

  • Strong Enough

I can’t wait to see people mouth drop to the floor when Batman beats the shit outta superman in the theaters

  • Chris

Meh! Affleck is one of the worst actors ever.

    • Grow Up

I’m sure if we were to find you in any Hollywood movie you would be unremarkably shite.

Not even bad enough to warrant a startled “WTF?!” – just a slow shaking of the head, and the knowledge that your career was already dead and buried.

He ain’t “one of the worst actors ever” otherwise he wouldn’t get work. Now, grow up.
