Ben Foster and Donald Sutherland Join Jason Statham in THE MECHANIC

I won’t go into a Ben Foster love-fest, I promise but his participation in Simon West’s “The Mechanic” definitely raises my interest in the project.  The film is a remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson film of the same name about an aging hitman (played this time by Statham) who takes an apprentice under his wing in what must be the weirdest summer internship ever.  According to Variety, Foster would play the assassination intern while Donald Sutherland would play Foster’s father and Statham’s handler.  It’s enough to get you interested in what looks like a keen, low-budget action-thriller and then you remember that Simon West is directing and all that interest just drifts away…
