20th Century Fox’s X-Men Apocalypse shows us a slew of new mutants, both heroes and villains, but the world of the X-Men still has a huge number of mutants that we have yet to see hit the big screen in the franchise’s eight films thus far. With Apocalypse nigh, we thought we’d take the opportunity to explore 10 other mutants we’d like to see hit the big screen in the years to come.

Spiral

Spiral is an X-Men villain who works for the alien despot/television executive Mojo. Having six arms, a penchant for swordplay, and a mastery of sorcery, Spiral is an all around threat for the team. At one point or another, nearly every X-Men villain has joined the team in some form or fashion, and Spiral is no different. Recently joining the team of X-Force, led by X-Men: Apocalypse newcomer Psylocke, the six-armed sorceress made for a welcome addition in the power department.

Maggot

x-men-maggot

Poor Maggot. Often categorized as the “worst X-Man of all time”, Maggot has a power that’s practically a curse more so than anything else. The large mutant’s digestive system actually detaches itself from his own body as two large “maggots” that can eat through anything in existence, while also turning him blue for some reason. When the maggots detach, they also give him an additional powerset that makes him stronger than the average bear. While Maggot never really took to audiences, he could work in a film while also giving a really cool visual and against-the-grain power.

Mimic

Calvin Rankin has one of the best powers that a mutant could ask for, he can absorb any power! Mimic has the ability to take any five abilities from mutants he’s in direct contact with and hold onto them however long he wants, until he decides to swap them out. Unfortunately, he can only absorb half their full strength but it works pretty well all the same. In the Marvel Universe proper, Mimic absorbed the powers of the first five X-Men: Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman, and Angel, granting him a cool appearance in the process. There was also an excellent alternate reality version of Mimic who led the team of X-Men called “The Exiles”, who could be brought into the movies to introduce this reality hopping crew.

Morph

Speaking of the Exiles, we have the lovable goof that is Morph. While Morph also existed in the main universe, and is most known for his role in the X-Men: The Animated Series, his most hilarious incarnation was on the same team with Mimic.  Morph has a similar powerset as Mystique, able to look like anyone for covert operations, but also can turn his body into any object he desires. Much like Deadpool, Morph is a motormouth who acts as the team’s comedic relief in any given situation. Considering Deadpool’s popularity, adding someone of a similar vein to the X-Men team proper like Morph would do well moving forward.

Polaris

Lorna Dane is the third child of Magneto, having the same powers to a lesser degree as the Master of Magnetism. Lorna has been a fixture of the X-Men for quite some time, bouncing from the various X teams throughout her history in Marvel Comics. Polaris also has a relationship with Cyclops’ brother, Havok, who also makes an appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse. She, much like her father, has walked the path of both hero and villain, sometimes dealing with mental problems that placed her square into the role of antagonist to the team. Dane would make for a good addition to the X-Men movie roster considering her history of the team along with her powerful mutant abilities.

Vulcan

Vulcan would make for a fantastic villain for an upcoming X-Men movie if they’re ever looking for a new avenue to explore. The third Summer brother, Gabriel, was originally chosen by Professor Xavier to save his brothers on a suicide mission to the island of Krakoa, which turns out to be a mutant itself. The mission goes wrong and Gabriel, and his team, are seemingly killed. Vulcan manages to survive but goes crazy in the process, swearing revenge on Professor X, his brothers, and the rest of the X-Men. Vulcan has the ability to manipulate any energy, which is a somewhat much more powerful version of his brothers’ powers. Gabriel also pulls the team’s adventures into outer space, which has been rumored to be where the movies will go moving forward.

Longshot

x-men-longshot

Longshot is a happy-go-lucky mutant whose origins are tied to Spiral and Mojo. While not exactly a mutant per se, for all intents and purposes, Longshot fits the bill and has a strange power set to go along with it. He has hollow bones that grant him super agility, speed, and reflexes. Longshot’s personality is what sets him apart, as his attitude and sense of humor have him cracking wise with the best of them. The alien mutant also has a “luck field” that lets things usually go his way, which makes for some interesting stories involving Longshot to be sure.

Xorn

x-men-xorn

Xorn would be a fantastic add to the X-Men movie universe simply for the huge reveal that comes from learning his true identity. Originally sold as the “man with a star for a head”, Xorn joined the team in the 2000s, claiming to have the ability to cure any wound along with various energy manipulation powers. What ultimately came to be, however, was that Xorn was revealed to actually be Magneto, hiding in plain sight to take the team down from within. Xorn’s appearance as the “man in the iron mask” makes for a striking visual and would add some distinct flair to the movies, along with his fantastic twist of an origin.

Daken

Daken is the son of Wolverine, and he's a villain through and through. Having a similar set of powers as his father Logan, Daken also has the ability to control people through his pheromones. Rather than having adamantium bonded to his claws, they’re simply bone that protrude from both on top of his hands, and underneath them. If there was a place that we would see Daken show up in the Fox Cinematic Universe, it would most likely be in Wolverine 3, but with Hugh Jackman on the way out, maybe Daken could be introduced to the team proper to add a nice twist to the villain role.

Mr. Sinister

Mr. Sinister is one of the biggest X-Men villains who has yet to appear in the films proper. Nathaniel Essex was turned into Mr. Sinister thanks to a combination of his own genetic experiments and the help of Apocalypse. Sinister has some crazy abilities up his sleeve, including being able to heal from any wound almost instantaneously. Essex’s major selling point is his genetic experiments and creation of monsters using the X-Men’s DNA. He’s always had a fascination with the Summers’ brothers, and with Cyclops once again front and center in the movies, it would be a good time to have Sinister as the next big threat.
