The Queen has landed on Netflix — and no, we don’t mean The Crown (although that, too, will be a cause for celebration). Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé is, well, just that — a documentary by the celebrity-beyond-all-celebrities that chronicles Beyoncé’s historic 2018 Cochella performance. According to Netflix, Homecoming will be a “candid” and “intimate” look at the creative process that led to such a culturally significant moment, one that paid homage to the black college experience.

Throughout the trailer, the words of the late poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou are heard from, saying in part, “What I really want to do is be a representative of my race, of the human race. I have a chance to show how kind we can be, how intelligent and generous we can be.”

In addition to the details of the performance itself, and all that led up to it, the trailer also gives us glimpses of Beyoncé working out, at home with her children, and other very personal moments that will be a delight for fans to have access to.

Homecoming will premiere on Netflix Wednesday, April 17th; check out the trailer below:

Here’s the official synopsis for Homecoming:

Homecoming presents an intimate look at Beyoncé’s historic 2018 Coachella performance that paid homage to America’s historically black colleges and universities. Interspersed with candid footage and interviews detailing the preparation and powerful intent behind her vision, Homecoming traces the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.
