If you're still watching Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., then you are, in the words of Stan Lee, a "true believer".  You're also going to have some Bill Paxton headed your way.  TV Guide reports that he'll be guest-starring in at least four episodes of the beleaguered series starting in late February or early March.  Paxton will play Agent John Garrett, "a rough-and-tumble former cohort of Agent Coulson [Clark Gregg] with a little bit of attitude and cigar-smoking swagger," says executive producer Jed Whedon.  Fellow executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen adds that Garrett "is the type who wants to stay out in the field no matter how high-level he gets," and he'll be joining the show "in a very surprising way."

Hit the jump for the first image of Paxton from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and to learn how his character will differ from the comics.  Paxton will be seen on the big screen later this year in Million Dollar Arm, Nightcrawler, and Edge of Tomorrow.

In the comics, S.H.I.E.L.D. turned Garrett into a cyborg in order to save his life after he was critically injured in the line of duty.  However, Jed Whedon tells TV Guide that this Garrett "refused to sit behind a desk and doesn't like the formalities of S.H.I.E.L.D. He's going to help Coulson solve some mysteries and is not afraid to rig an explosive or two."  Judging by the first half of the series, "Mysteries and Explosions" could also be an alternate title for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
