Release Dates for BLACK MASS, BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP, AS ABOVE SO BELOW, and THE LOFT

A few release dates:

  • Warner Bros. has scheduled the Whitey Bulger biopic starring Johnny Depp (working title: Black Mass) for September 18, 2015.
  • Led by Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong, Before I Go to Sleep opens September 12, 2014.
  • Universal will push As Above, So Below from August 15 to August 29, 2014.  Universal previously had The Loft on August 29, but now plans to delay the release indefinitely.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Edgerton, Dakota Johnson, Juno Temple, and Jesse Plemons star alongside Depp in the Whitey Bulger biopic, directed by Scott Cooper (Out of the Furnace).  Here’s the synopsis:

BLACK MASS tells the true story of Whitey Bulger, the brother of a state senator and the most infamous violent criminal in the history of South Boston, who became an FBI informant to take down a Mafia family invading his turf.  However, after the Feds closed in on their targets, they double crossed Bulger and ultimately prosecuted him, along with his partner in crime and the original FBI agent working with him.

Rowan Joffe directed the adaptation of S.J. Watson’s best-selling book, Before I Go to Sleep.  Here’s the logline:

A woman unable to remember her life regains her memory and discovers that everything she thought was true is a lie.

Perdita Weeks, Ben Feldman, and Edwin Hodge star in As Above, So Below, directed by John Erick Dowdle (Devil).  Here’s the official synopsis:

Miles of twisting catacombs lie beneath the streets of Paris, the eternal home to countless souls.  When a team of explorers ventures into the uncharted maze of bones, they uncover the dark secret that lies within this city of the dead.  A journey into madness and terror, As Above, So Below reaches deep into the human psyche to reveal the personal demons that come back to haunt us all.

Erik Van Looy directed the remake of his Belgian film, LoftKarl Urban, James Marsden, Wentworth Miller, Eric Stonestreet, and Matthias Schoenaerts star.  Here’s the official synopsis:

Karl Urban (Star Trek Into Darkness) and James Marsden  (2 Guns) star in the tense psychological thriller THE LOFT, the story of five married guys who conspire to secretly share a penthouse loft in the city–a place where they can carry out hidden affairs and indulge in their deepest fantasies. But the fantasy becomes a nightmare when they discover the dead body of an unknown woman in the loft, and they realize one of the group must be involved. Paranoia seizes them as everyone begins to suspect one another. Friendships are tested, loyalties are questioned and marriages crumble as the group is consumed by fear, suspicion and murder in this relentless thriller.
