Chris Hemsworth stars in Michael Mann’s Blackhat as Nicholas Hathaway, a blackhat hacker serving 15 years in prison whose skills are vital to putting a stop to a high-level cybercrime network threatening to destroy the financial markets.  Sure, it’s just a movie, but in a new Blackhat featurette, mathematician and film consultant Christopher McKinlay asks, “Could just anyone out there with a desire to wreak havoc just go do that?”  After what's happened to Sony over the last month, clearly the answer to that question is resounding yes, and this Blackhat promo further proves it.

Hit the jump to check out seven brand new Blackhat images as well as the rather unsettling seven-minute featurette covering the very real threat of cyber hacking and how the filmmakers incorporated the details into Blackhat.  The movie also stars Viola Davis, Tang Wei and Wang Leehom, and is due to make its way into theaters on January 16th.
