The first glimpse at the new Blade Runner 2049 came courtesy of a futuristic yet instantly recognizable bit of concept art; now, thanks to the Denis Villeneuve-directed film's first teaser trailer, we have a handful of gorgeous and striking scenes that give frustratingly vague hints as to the movie's plot. Fans of the original film will quickly pick up on certain familiar elements: the steamy streets of L.A., the fashionable trench coat of Ryan Gosling's K, and the iconic pistol of Harrison Ford's Deckard. (Bonus points for recognizing the significance of the piano and the dog, methinks.)

But there are other images revealed in this brief announcement trailer that raise more questions: Why is K headed to a "vintage casino"? If Deckard is indeed a Replicant, how has he managed to survive for 30 years and why has he aged? Is K a human or a Replicant? Where can I get that sweet trench coat? Leave your answers, suggestions, and theories in the comments!

Scripted by Michael Green (Logan, Alien: Covenant) and Hampton Fancher (the original Blade Runner) with cinematography by the Oscar-nominated Roger Deakins, the cast includes Mackenzie Davis, Jared Leto, Dave Bautista, Carla Juri, Barkhad Abdi, and Robin WrightBlade Runner 2049 opens October 6, 2017.

Here’s the official synopsis from Alcon Entertainment:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
