Bid on Some Signed Props and Original Artwork from Ridley Scott and Guillermo del Toro

     June 5, 2012

As Jeremy Smith wrote on AICN:

On December 20, 2009, Paul Prischman lost his valiant two-year battle against brain cancer. He was a dedicated husband to his wife Cristin, a proud father of two wonderful daughters, and as loyal a friend as I’ll ever have. When Steve Weintraub and I launched Collider in the summer of 2005, Paul was constantly brainstorming ways he could help the site. In early 2006, he came through in a ridiculously big way with a special screening of the Director’s Cut of Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven (the DVD for which he’d worked on as an associate producer). Collider was barely a blip on the movie website radar at the time (high school kids with LiveJournals were kicking our ass in traffic), but there we were hosting an event at the Hollywood Arclight with Scott and screenwriter William Monahan in attendance. It was an early, critical boost for the site. It made us feel like we belonged. And it would’ve never happened were it not for Paul’s efforts.

After Paul became ill, a number of his friends formed Paul’s Brain Trust and it’s dedicated to helping out his wife and daughters.  Since many of his friends work in Hollywood, they’ve donated some awesome props, original production artwork, signed DVD’s, books, posters, and they’ve even got screenwriter Hampton Fancher‘s original first draft of Blade Runner.   They’re some incredible stuff and all the proceeds are going to a worthwhile cause.  Hit the jump for more or click here to start bidding.

While many of the items up for auction are cool, if you’ve got the money, this is the one I’d buy:

From the personal collection of KNB FX artist and WALKING DEAD executive producer GREG NICOTERO: an authentic reproduction of the third-stage ‘adult’ Alien head (designed by H.R. Giger),  from Ridley Scott’s original classic, ALIEN.  This full-size resin replica (L = 35”, H = 16”, W -= 10”) is a one-of-a-kind item cast from the original film mold, and has been autographed by ALIEN director RIDLEY SCOTT himself. This sculpt has the words “ALIEN III” etched into the front  bottom base identifying for the films production purposes the Alien in its “third-stage ‘adult’ lifecycle form.

PAUL’S BRAIN TRUST is a group of friends close to Paul Prischman and his family, who have come together to coordinate auctions, movie screenings and other spectacular fundraising events, with all proceeds going to support Paul’s family. Our dear friend Paul lost his two-year battle with brain cancer on December 20, 2009.

The one-of-a-kind items in this auction were donated by Paul’s friends and colleagues in the film and home entertainment industry in the hope that the funds they generate could provide some financial support for Paul’s wife and daughters.

There’s something in the auction for everyone!  From one-of-a-kind cinema history items like screenwriter Hampton Fancher’s original first draft of BLADE RUNNER, prop replicas, and original production artwork signed by Ridley Scott, and Guillermo del Toro, to signed DVD’s, books, posters and soundtracks. The 7-day auction starts on Sunday June 3rd and ends on Sunday June 10th.

A message from Paul’s wife Cristin..

As some of you may remember my husband Paul Prischman was diagnosed with a rare and deadly brain tumor back in 2008.  Our dear friends came together and created a group called PAUL’S BRAIN TRUST, and threw a benefit screening of Ridley Scott’s science fiction classic BLADE RUNNER. The screening was held on the back lot of Warner Brothers Studios, and attended by Ridley Scott and other cast members from the film.   It was a huge success, more than Paul and I could have ever possibly imagined.   We were so very grateful for everyone’s support, hope and generosity.   Unfortunately, Paul passed away in December 20th 2009 leaving myself and our two beautiful girls. Our friends in the entertainment industry have generously donated items from their personal collections to auction off in the memory of my husband and support of his children’s future.

I would like to personally thank everyone for your love and support,

Cristin Prischman
