If, like me, you're unfamiliar with Valiant Comics then you would do well to read this primer from our very own Evan Valentine. Now that you're caught up you can start diving into today's news that they have teamed up with Sony Pictures and a nice array of talent to bring Bloodshot and Harbinger to the big screen as the first two installments of a five picture deal (MCU, then DCU, now VCU).

Per THR, it looks like Bloodshot will be the first of these films coming down the pike. John Wick (holy shit) directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski will helm the film from a script by Jeff Wadlow (Cry Wolf, Kick-Ass 2) and Eric Heisserer (The Thing, Bird Box). The movie, to be produced by Matthew Vaughn and Jason Kothari, is about "a soldier brought back from the dead by a secret government agency, turned into an unstoppable killing machine with no memory powered by nanotechnology."

Heisserer will be the sole writer on Harbinger, and the project is currently not disclosing its directorial candidates. That film, produced by Fast and Furious guru Neil H. Moritz and Andrea Giannetti, deals with "a group of superpowered beings on the run from the Harbinger Foundation, an organization run by a mysterious philanthropist Toyo Harada." Apparently Valiant properties Archer & Armstrong and Shadowman are also in development at Sony, but need a little bit more time in the oven before they're fully baked. If any of you guys are die-hard Valiant fans I'd love to know what you think of this marriage between the material and the people tasked with bringing it to life.
