DC chief/comic writer Geoff Johns first teased the development of a live-action Blue Beetle television series in June. Since then we’ve seen stills from the test footage, and even a few isolated seconds of video, but nothing too substantial.
DC played the entire clip — depicting the Blue Beetle scarab transforming young Jaime Reyes — for an audience at Comic-Con, and have since posted it to Youtube. The future of the Blue Beetle on TV is still uncertain, but if you find such a possibility intriguing, you should definitely check out the clip after the jump.
I’m really digging the look of the footage, especially given that we’re still in the very early stages of the development process. The general absence of live-action comic book heroes on the small screen seems like a missed opportunity, so I’m rooting for this one to eventually make it to air.

Here’s a character bio:

Jaime Reyes was a relatively normal high school student from El Paso, Texas. His father ran a garage, his mother was a paramedic, and his little sister was a brat. Jaime hung out with his two best friends Brenda and Paco, the mediator between the hard-working Brenda and the laid-back Paco. By both Brenda and Paco’s accounts, he was a good friend, the kind of person who could let them be themselves, and who could always make things better. Jaime aimed to help his father out at the garage, but Alberto turned him down, not wanting to see his son grow up too fast.
Jaime discovered the Blue Beetle Scarab on the way home from school with Paco and Brenda, half-buried in a disused lot. He took it home, curious as to what it might be. That night, the Scarab came alive, and grafted itself to the base of Jaime’s spine, inducing strange dreams in Jaime.
This symbiosis gives Jaime access to the Scarab’s powers whenever he chooses. The Scarab can, and will, use its powers of its own accord; Jaime, however, can override the Scarab if need be. Should Jaime fall prey to a mind-altering power, the Scarab will take control of the armor.

The acting is atrocious but it almost always is on test footage. Watching the unaired pilot for Buffy is the most difficult thing ever, especially without the proper Willow lol.
Special effects were hurtin on that. It made the Power Rangers look the special effects event of th year. I'm assuming they are gearing this at kids so that might work. If they are trying to make another small ville keep on trying.
You have to remember this is just test footage, with a tv network putting up the money the effects will look much better,i'm really hoping this gets picked up because i think it has potential.
Geoff Johns said that this is for his Smallville episode featuring Blue Beetle and Booster Gold.
