Another day, another person being brought in to breathe some life into the apparently un-crackable script for Bond 25. The Observer reports that Fleabag creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge has been hired to "liven up" the screenplay for the next James Bond film at the specific request of star Daniel Craig. The report notes that Craig wants a touch of the trademark wit Waller-Bridge brought not only to Fleabag, but also the BBC spy-thriller adaptation Killing Eve.

It's yet another stop on the long road to get this freakin' behemoth on to the screen. In February, The Bourne Ultimatum writer and noted script savior Scott Z. Burns was hired to overhaul the screenplay by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. This came after the already-tumultuous director's chair hullabaloo that saw Danny Boyle leave the production just weeks before shooting began—rumor has it that the director wanted to kill Bond at the end of his story—with Cary Joji Fukunaga eventually replacing him. Eventually, Bond 25 got shifted from a Valentine's Day release date to April 8, 2020 to accommodate all the backstage shifts.

It's funny, because if MGM can figure this thing out, it has the chance to be an incredible Bond film. With a mind like Fukunaga behind the camera and a script that's been touched up by talents like Burns and Waller-Bridge, you got one heck of a cocktail being shaken up over here. Plus, you can add in the fact that Collider discovered earlier this year that newly-crowned Oscar-winner Rami Malek is pretty much a lock to play the film's villain. (Say what you will about his Freddie Mercury, but this video alone proves Malek does a great villain.)

Either way, Bond 25 is still currently slated—for now—to hit theaters on April 8, 2020. For more on the film, check out the links below:
