There’s zero empirical evidence to back up the theory, but here at Limited Paper we tend to think that there aren’t a lot of hard-core collectors out there with big Valentine’s Day plans.  Quite frankly, when the vast majority of your spending money is being pushed towards one fancifully-colored 24x36” sheet of paper after another, there isn’t much budget left for schmoozing the ladies (or the gents, if that’s your thing).  Sure, you could’ve bought her that diamond-encrusted toaster she’s always wanted, but there’s something like 400 prints dropping this week:  one has to prioritize.

But what if you have a significant other…and they’re also into poster collecting?  Well, good news, buddy:  Bottleneck Gallery’s Get a Room (opening in NYC this Friday) is filled with a ton of romantic, movie-themed posters your guy or gal will be jazzed to have hanging on their wall, and we’ve got preview pics for you (including new work from Craig Drake, Godmachine, and Cuyler Smith) after the jump.

Before we get into our preview of Bottleneck Gallery’s Get a Room, let me first point out that the paragraph above should not be taken seriously:  I’m well aware that many collectors have girl/boyfriends (or wives/husbands).  That was a bit of exaggeration employed in the name of humor, so please don’t feel as though you or your ability to get laid are being called into question (you’d think we could skip this part, but you’d also be amazed at how easily lame jokes can provoke butt-hurt);  I’m sure you have just as many Valentines as you do posters, Don Juan.  Let’s move on.

This Friday, our friends at Bottleneck Gallery are opening a new show called Get a Room.  What’s it all about?  Initiate…press release…block quote:

It’s that time of the year and love is in the air. So much so that Bottleneck has commissioned over 50 artists to “Get a Room.” No, we do not mean that in a literal sense. Rather, our newest exhibit will focus on the very couples and relationships that have come to define our perceptions of love and partnership in popular culture. Each artist will present a piece depicting a couple made famous by your favorite movies, television shows and books. Bottleneck has been bit by the love bug and we like it!

And what kinda artists are we talking about?  Check this out:

That’s quite a few of our favorites.  And, hey, whatta ya know: many of ‘em are on display in the collection of preview images Bottleneck sent along over the weekend.  As of now, we don’t have any info on edition sizes or pricing, but the images below will give you an idea of what to expect visually when Get a Room opens later in the week (titles are for the films each piece is based on, not necessarily the title of the print/artwork itself):

  • Drive by 100% Soft

  • Let The Right One In by Cuyler Smith

  • The Matrix (Regular Edition and Variant Edition) by Craig Drake

  • Super by Brad Hill (not a poster, but Limited Paper loves Super, so screw it)

  • Poster by Bruce Yan

  • The Fifth Element by David Welker

  • 500 Days of Summer by Glen Brogan

  • The Fifth Element by Godmachine

  • King Kong by Matt Ferguson

Pretty cool, right?  If you’re interested in attending Bottleneck’s latest, you’re going to want to be at the Bottleneck’s NYC location this Friday before 7pm.  Those of you who can’t make it will want to keep your eyes peeled online the following day:  online sales for anything that doesn’t sell during the show Friday night will begin around noon EST on Saturday afternoon.

That’s all we got for now, folks, but stay tuned:  we’ve got a new giveaway headed your way in the near future, and it’s awesome, as well as further info on what you can expect the coming weekend to be like in terms of poster-drops (hint: don’t plan on going anywhere Sunday). if you’re an artist or gallery with artwork you’d like to see featured on Limited Paper (or if you’re just some lucky bastard who happened to overhear a bit of poster-related gossip while standing in the bushes outside Martin Ansin’s house) we wanna hear from you!  Email Limited Paper directly at LimitedPaper@gmail.com, and be sure that you’re following us on Twitter via @LimitedPaper for ongoing commentary, news updates, giveaways, and more!
