Here’s a blast from the past to kick off your Saturday: The Disney Channel is apparently developing a revival of sorts of the fantastic 1990s TV series Boy Meets World.  TV Line reports that The Disney Channel is in the early stages of developing a sequel series called Girl Meets World.  The follow-up show would center on the daughter of the unendingly loveable couple Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel).  Hit the jump for more on this fascinating development.

The central conceit of Boy Meets World was to follow the life and coming-of-age of a young middle child.  The show aired on ABC in their tween-geared TGIF block, and was a staple of my Friday nights as a kid.  I’m not inherently opposed to the idea of a sequel series, especially if Jacobs, Savage, and Fishel are involved.  If those three do indeed sign on for Girl Meets World, it’s hard to imagine Rider Strong’s Shawn Hunter or Will Friedle’s Eric Matthews not at least stopping by for a visit.  Cue Feeny call.
