Straight answers are pretty hard to come by in Hollywood. So it was odd that, when asked by IESB a few weeks back if he would be playing Face in the big screen adaptation of the classic TV series “The A-Team”, Bradley Cooper’s answer “Oh, that’s out there already?” was so refreshing. An actor who wasn’t equivocating? The man deserves an award of some kind! Or maybe a better handler.
The star of “The Hangover” apparently got the “keep your mouth shut” memo, quickly recanting his leak on CHUD by claiming that IESB took his words out of context – they’re sneaky like that. Sample Cooper’s first shot at double-speak below:
“A guy came up to me and asked about the character Faceman in The A-Team. I said ‘Oh, that’s out there already?’, but my point was that news about the film is out there. Literally that people knew about Carnahan and the remake, that’s it.”
I want to believe the man, I really do – but today’s news from the Hollywood Reporter is making that sort of difficult. Ready for it? Bradley Cooper is in official talks to play Faceman in Fox’s adaptation of “The A-Team”! There, was that so hard? Cooper wasn’t necessarily lying to CHUD. He did say that he hadn’t read a script or met with Joe Carnahan. Still, it was pretty thin to claim that his original remark was only in reference to the fact that people knew about “The A-Team”. Yeah, and we know about the sequel to “Twilight” too! The internet is crazy like that!
Carnahan and “The A-Team” producers, Tony and Ridley Scott, have yet to fill the film’s other three leads – Hannibal, BA Baracus and Murdoch – but with “The A-Team” already set for a June 11, 2010 release I’d expect the casting to be announced pretty quick. And then just as quickly denied for continuity’s sake.
