Bradley Cooper is at it again! Deadline reports that the eight-time Oscar nominee will be making new moves with his adaptation of Hyperion along with Weston Middleton, who served as the associate producer in A Star Is Born.

Hyperion will be based on the four-book series written by Dan Simmons. The project, which was previously envisioned as a limited series for SYFY Channel, will be making its big move over to Warner Bros.' motion pictures division but will keep producer and owner of GK films, Graham King, on the production side of things. Tom Spezialy, who found major success as the executive producer for HBO’s Watchmen series, will be aiding in the adaptation from TV to film.

The Hyperion Cantos series includes Simmons’ books, Hyperion (1989), The Fall of Hyperion (1990), Endymion (1996), and The Rise of Endymion (1997). The books tell a story that is set 700 years after the destruction of Old Earth and picks up at a time where the entire galaxy is at war. The tale is based around seven strangers from different backgrounds who are on a mission to unlock the secrets of the planet Hyperion’s Time Tombs. Each of the travelers believes they alone have the knowledge and power to save mankind as they know it.

The move from limited series to full feature is a good one. Following the success of the box office-topping Dune, Hyperion also stands to gain much from breaking the four-part book series into a set of films. Like Dune, the change will allow for more in-depth storytelling and character development and will, of course, keep fans coming back to the theater for each installment meaning more of a financial profit.

Though not much else is known about the upcoming sci-fi saga, fans of the original books are sure to be pleased that they can expect to see a film adaptation coming soon.
