The CW’s Arrow just picked up Peter Stormare and Devon Aoki, but apparently there’s still room on the season three roster for more because now Brandon Routh is in the mix, too. Clearly Routh knows a thing or two about donning tights and rocking superhuman powers having starred in Bryan Singer’s 2006 release, Superman Returns, but for those of you who’d rather avoid show spoilers, we’ll save the specifics of his Arrow role for after the jump. If you’d rather not wait until Arrow returns on Wednesday, October 8th at 8pm ET/PT for the big reveal, continue on to find out who Routh is bringing to Starling City.
As reported by TV Line, Routh will add another DC superhero to his resume courtesy of his new gig on Arrow because his recurring role will be Ray Palmer, the physicist also known as The Atom. After harvesting the remnants of a white dwarf star, The Atom gains the ability to change his own size, shrinking down to the subatomic level, and alter the size of objects around him as well.
According to TV Line, here’s how we can expect The Atom to fit into the new season:
“An unparalleled scientist and inventor, Ray will play an unexpected role in the lives of Oliver and (rumored love interest) Felicity as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. Palmer’s plans for Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division will be shrouded in mystery.”
Come October, The Atom will be in the mix right alongside Stormare as The New 52 version of Count Vertigo, Werner Zytle, as well as Aoki’s Tatsu Yamashiro, aka Katana, an expert in martial arts who wields a sword that extracts and imprisons its victims’ souls, appropriately dubbed, the Soultaker sword.
We’ll keep an eye out for more updates on the new season of Arrow, especially as the show makes its way towards unveiling that teaser footage at San Diego Comic-Con.
