While it’s sadly looking like Brandon Routh won’t reprise his role as Superman, the actor has lined up the lead in the indie Missing William. Per The Wrap, the story centers on “an artist living in Rhode Island (played by Routh’s real-life wife Courtney Ford) who is forced to care for her husband after he’s tragically injured in a bar fight. As she attempts to nurse him back to health, her childhood sweetheart and unrequited love (Routh) tries to coax her back into living her life again. A complicated love triangle ensues, with the woman torn between the brain-damaged husband she loves and the hunky former flame who got away.” Kenn Macrae will direct from a script by Daniel McKinnon. Shooting starts next week in Rhode Island.
Routh most recently appeared in theaters in Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. He’ll next be seen in another comic-book movie, Kevin Munroe’s Dylan Dog: Dead of Night.
